Block first or seam together first?

I've read that you should block first, but I haven't done anything that requires seaming.

Block first. It makes the edges flat so you can seam more easily

Hi. Any patterns I have say to block the finished garment - ie sew together first. This would make sense to me to ensure that both front and back are blocked to the same size and shape exactly. If you block separately you could block them with differences, which would affect how the garment looks finished.

You're supposed to block first, but I hate blocking more than seaming so I always end up seaming first
