Long, but not relaxing enough!
I slept in and then worked a long closing shift yesterday. Today we got *so much* done at our house. Walls painted, kitchen cleaned and stuff unpacked. Puppy gate installed at the top of our stairs, and we went out to a nice sushi dinner. So it was a good day, but definitely not one where I got to enjoy my lazy time. Thinking next week I might take Monday as a 'mental health day' and enjoy a full weekend.
But excite, our washer and dryer are being delivered tomorrow!!
I spent my weekend studying but I had breaks for dinner and drinks on Friday and Saturday Brunch with my sister! Sunday was relaxing but busy with laundry and cleanup.

Friday - my H and I tried out a new Thai place (our regular one is in the process of moving, and won't be back up until this week), which was pretty good, then came home and chatted with some neighbors, and watched some t.v.
Saturday - we did a whole bunch of couch swapping (or at least my dad and my H did, while I hung out with my mom), then came home watched some t.v. and hung out.
Sunday - pool, laundry, and other various things around the house.
It was a pretty good weekend, though I think my H is getting sick, which I am hoping passes quickly, and I manage to not get!

Friday - arrived at campsite, set-up, commence drinking.
Saturday - Lounge around drinking coffee, shower, drive through the White Mountains of NH. Forgo kayaking and instead drive up Mt Washington, which I have never done before. It was crazy being so close to the cliff's edge with 2-way traffic. Get back to campsite, cook in the dutch oven, eat, drink, sleep.
Sunday - pack up and head to the NASACR race. It sucked. It was hot and people were smelly. REALLY smeely and gross. One guy smelled like poop so bad Jay couldn't even eat lunch. Left at lap 179 out of 301. Drove home, grocery shopped, unpacked, The End.

My parents came Friday to see H and me. My sister (lives 20 minutes away) threw a big hormonal fit because they weren't planning on going to see the progress on her house. Mind you, she is spending this entire week with them. So my mom and I decided that the four of us (H, me, mom, dad) would load up and go see the progress Saturday morning. When we were headed that way, she was in my town running errands! Oh, she's so frustrating, but she'll get over it. We did have a good time with my parents though. My mom and I stayed up until 2am talking. It never fails. It's nice to have 1-on-1 time with my mom.
The weekend was not very productive. I figured we've been so busy lately that we deserved a lazy weekend. But I did calculate how much we've spent on the house so far. It kind of hurt seeing that total. And we have plans to spend just as much on some major changes. Oh to be a homeowner.
Friday we packed up the car and met our friend to drive to the campsite about 3 hours away. She rode her motorcycle and we followed with the camping gear. It made me so nervous to be behind her with all the big trucks around, but everything went fine and G and I had a great sing-along in the car during the trip. Set up camp and met 3 other friends for a campfire + food + tons of booze + drunken singing. Finally went to bed around 2am.
Saturday we cooked breakfast on the fire, joined up with two more friends, then headed to the river for whitewater rafting. It was AWESOME. We went on the category 5 run and the conditions were perfect. G and I and our friend were in a raft together with a guide who was on safety duty, so we got to do the runs first, then pull over and watch everyone else come down and help rescue swimmers & lost gear. It was an absolute blast.
After we got off the river, the rafting company had a BBQ for us with unlimited burgers, hot dogs, and beer. Hung out there with the other rafters (there was a group of 35 Penn State students with us) for a bit, then hit the liquor store and headed back to camp. Cooked dinner, drank a lot, more campfire singing...then some skinny dipping. I think it was around 4am before I finally went to bed.
Sunday we packed up camp and drove home for a quick shower. Then drove downtown for a private tour and reception for our college alumni association at the Baltimore Museum of Art. Enjoyed champagne and crabcakes in the sculpture garden. Then went home to veg for the rest of the night.
It was hot and people were smelly. REALLY smeely and gross. One guy smelled like poop so bad Jay couldn't even eat lunch.
Oh no, I know you weren't looking forward to going in the first place. Think he's cool with never going again after that experience?
In one sense it was "Too bad your last race wasn't enjoyable." But in another it was, "Hey look, it sucks. You're not really giving up much after all." I think it actually worked out in my favor that is sucked. This way next year I won't feel bad he isn't going.

Anniversary dinner was lovely - free champagne and tres leches cake! Plus the food is always phenomenal at the place we chose this year, we really enjoyed ourselves.
Had friends over for the WC Final yesterday, we were a happy bunch since we were hoping Germany would win. I had made mostly snack-foods since the game started around 2 pm, and everything I put out got eaten... must remember more food next time, even if it is in between meal-times!
After that, the H, me and my BFF went to the theater to (finally) see Maleficent. I really liked it, mostly because the theater was sparse with only a couple of kids - the whole reason we wait so long to see movies that are kid-friendly! But it wasn't in the 3D anymore here, so we had to settle for regular showing, which was still visually awesome.

What did you make?
One loaf of beer-bread, 2 lbs of parmesan meatballs simmered in marinara, water crackers & cheddar cheese, a bowl of grapes, a bowl of mixed nuts (giggity), and some chips & salsa. Really I only "made" the beer bread and meatballs, oh and I did slice the cheese myself. Everything else was just taken from store packaging and put into pretty serving bowls.
Friday we went to Sears to look at some new appliances and just had Subway for dinner. After dinner we just lounged around at home. My parents had been here all week so having a night of lounging was perfect.
Saturday was more relaxing, took the dog for a run and then it was time for my b-day party! L planned a whole secret thing so I was pretty excited. Lots of friends met us for dinner, and then we went out for drinks and dancing. L and I spent the night at a hotel after and it was nice to have some air conditioning.
Yesterday was spent recovering, celebrating our pup's bday, and then going to L's end of season hockey party.
I worked and went to my teacher training, which was exhausting to begin with, but our neighbor-friends came over around 9 last night to inform us that they're expecting. I'm super, super happy for them, but we're officially the last ones in our 'hood that don't have kids. I'm just really sad to see my friendships changing so much.
duff - How are you holding up? You've been going hard without much down time.
Um, I'm not sure. I'm in quarter close right now, so it's just non-stop no matter what, but it's much harder than I expected not having a full day off on the weeks I have YTT. I do love it, but I'm going to be really happy when it's over. Thanks for asking, it means a lot.
