1) A Wrinkle in Time. I read this as a kid, because my teacher forced us to read different genres. I had never read Sci-Fi and figured I just wouldn't like it. This book opened the genre up for me, and it is one of my favs now.
2) Jane Eyre. I really really wanted to like it, too. Oh, and Wicked. That was the first book I didn't finish, though, so I don't know if it fully counts.
3) At this point, pretty good. I am an avid reader, so I know what I like. (Books with pretty covers, preferably that feel nice)

Thought I'd love but hated: Maybe Dante Aligheri. I had to try hard to keep engaged. David Baldacci, John Grisham, Ann Rice.
Wasn't sure, but loved: Tolstoy, Milton, Shakespeare, Vince Flynn. I also liked Dan Brown (though I know that's blameworthy).
Track record: I'm about 50:50. I don't finish books I don't like though, so maybe I'm just forgetting scores of books I didn't like - and my record is much worse.
