The hospital bag post got me thinking I should start looking at what we've piled up in the guest room and see what I might want the baby to wear home. We have a bunch of clothes in NB-3 month sizes, mostly hand-me downs, consignment buys, and a few new things. I haven't bought anything in particular for him to wear home, so I'm thinking I will probably just pick out a sleeper or something else simple from what we already have. What are you planning to bring to the hospital? Do you have a special outfit picked out?
We were team green last time, so my mom had bought this sweet little one piece outfit, one for a boy and one for a girl. Since we had a boy last time, our girl will wear the girl one this time. We had washed both so we couldn't return them.
Ha, I haven't even packed our hospital bag yet. H said we'd do it when I go into labor. LOLOL. I think I'll pack mine and Baby Peppers's stuff this weekend and H can fend for himself.
I'm at a loss for what to put on Baby Peppers. I don't even know what size he'll wear! We have a ton of NB size stuff, and it just looks so tiny!
Anyway, I think I'm just going to pick out the cutest NB outfit and the cutest 0-3 month outfit that we have an call it a day. I can't be bothered to buy a new outfit!
I thought about buying a new outfit, but decided not to. We are Team Green and my mom bought this really cute white outfit for my baby shower. We both love it, so that's what we will bring. We will also bring some other onesies as well. Our baby will be tiny, since he/she will be 3 weeks old, so I'm glad we got a lot of NB stuff. But I agree, with rbp it looks sooooo small! Almost too small.

Hopefully something that fits - we had to cram DS1 into a too small onesie because he was bigger than I expected and even though I brought a 3mo onesie, it was one of the brands that runs small. This time I'll have a Carter's onesie, nice and roomy! Nothing special, just new and clean.
I went to Carter's and bought 4 outfits - 2 of each gender. I kept the tags on so I can return if we end up with the same gender. All the ones I got are long sleeve onesie, pants with feet, and jacket/sweater (but comfy). And a matching hat. I wanted them in something cute even if they end up changing once we get home. And they were $5 each on sale. And they're very gender specific whereas most of the clothing I've bought has been neutral.
And I bought NB sizes since I'll be lucky if they're 6-7 lbs.
We really don't have much clothing, and I don't think any of is newborn, so we'll have to grab something at some point. This isn't realy a "thing" for me, though.

Both of my sons managed to pee on their going home outfits before leaving the hospital Luckily I had some spares. NB was the perfect size for both and they were both just over 8lbs.

I bought a winnie the pooh sleeper at goodwill for $3 that I will likely use. It will probably be too big (it says "one size"), but it will be cold, and I imagine any pictures will be with the blanket I made over it anyway!
I'll bring a side snap shirt to use instead of the onesie while she still has her umbilical cord stump though. My mom swears it's uncomfortable for them in onesies until it falls off, but we'll see. We have something similar in 0-3 months I'll bring too just in case.
we were team green last time, too. i bought two outfits and left them both (with tags) with my BFF. upon finding out that i had a girl, she washed the dress and brought it to the hospital before we left. she gave me the boy outfit (tags still on) to take back. i plan to do something similar this time, too. except i'll probably be less concerned about washing prior to first wearing this time!!
I saw it a couple times before I knew what we were having. I had told my mom if it was a boy that was the outfit. I also bought a Gap robot sleeper for him to wear in the hospital. I'm all about little clothes. My DH keeps saying he is not a doll. Lol
I just started thinking about this and think I'll wait until the middle of August to see what the weather might be like. I am pretty sure I want to do a headband with a bow in her hair though.

Weather is my dilemma also. I'm due 8/22 - could be 90, could be 70. What do you dress a newborn in?

I'll try to post the outfits I brought later but my baby was 8.3lbs, 20.5 in. and at 3 weeks is still in NB clothes. I know each baby is different but in our case even though the NB clothes seem impossibly tiny they were all that would fit her, and she wasn't even that tiny at birth. In fact I had to go buy extra NB sleepers for her because since we were team green I didn't have much and the 0-3 stuff I did have was way too big.

Most likely, the onesie I just ordered off Etsy. It has a picture of the historic "Made in Oregon" sign with the stag. I have a hard time getting excited about baby clothes, but this one tickles my fancy. I think it's a 3 month size.

I had two late August babies. Even if it's hot outside they will mostly be in air conditioning. DH pulled the car up to the hospital and we got in so really they were outside for all of 1 minute. Long sleeve cotton sleepers worked well. I'll probably bring a couple newborn sleepers to the hospital this time. Really we just snap a couple pics of them in the car seat for the first time and that's it, no big deal.

My girls both came home in the same outfit - a cute top and pants with matching socks, hat and blanket, in yellow with small purple flowers. Size 0-3 months. #1 was 8 lbs 6 oz and #2 was 6 lbs 10 oz, so it definitely fit them differently but it was fine for the trip home after which I stripped them both down to their side snap shirt and diaper with a blanket to make changes easier.
The outfit was a shower gift from my parents and they bought it hoping I'd use it to bring #1 home in, so the decision was easy for me. When #2 came along I didn't feel like coming up with something different and sort of liked the idea of reusing it.
