Maybe baby#2 is not coming because we are still so undecided on a name. We chose DS1's name in the hospital from a list of 5, but deep down I was already settled on his name. It's an "Irish-y" name, so similar style to poll choices (which hopefully show up - never did a poll before). Help us decide?
More info - boy names were hard for us the first time and are proving even harder this time. Last name is long and ugly-sounding, so we did try to stick to no more than 2 syllable names with a certain type of ending.
F/U - do people know how to pronounce Eamon? In my area I am led to believe people are familiar with the name, but I do fear people having no idea how to say/spell it.
If you can't see the poll, choices are Liam, Eamon, Gavin, and Benjamin (call him Ben).

I'm not a big fan when the vowel sounds are ambiguous (having grown up with a name like that) so I don't like Eamon. He's going to forever go "Ay-mon. E. A. M. O. N. EA, M as in Mary, oh, N as in november" I pick Liam, Benjamin as a close second.

I have never heard of or seen the name Eamon before. I don't care for it because I think it would be a lot of teaching people how to spell and how to say it, etc. And if your last name is "long and ugly" it seems like you should pick a first name that will be "easy" for others, if that makes sense. (Because easy for others means easy for the bearer of the name.) But, if you love it, go for it. Would you consider Ian instead? FTR, I don't personally like the name Ian, but it seems similar does your 'in" thing for your last name and wouldn't be so a burden.

I love Benjamin (Ben). I had NO idea how to pronounce Eamon. I know this is completely wrong, but in my head I pronounced it exactly like it was spelled: E-a-mon....

We discussed Ian because it does fit our criteria but we aren't crazy about it.
I also love Benjamin/Ben, but I'm totally biased there!
It seems like Liam is super popular, so I'd stay away from it. Not a fan of Eamon either. Gavin is okay... I have a friend who named their son that and it's cute.
