It seems like DS cannot go 20 minutes lately without massive poops! I'm on top of it, but DH doesn't always change him immediately. Well... that leads to some leaks. I don't think we need to go up a diaper size (he's 17 lbs, in size 3s) but we just need to be careful.
So, some poop leaked out on to our couch. DH usually just washes it off with a rag. I'm sure we should be doing something else, right? We just decided last night that as much as we'd like a new couch, we should probably wait until this one (and whomever else is to follow) is out of diapers!

Not a whole lot you can do for a couch, though I would be inclined to use more than water. I'd probably spray it with vinegar, or use bleach if it's a fabric that it won't ruin. Maybe simply rub in a little laundry detergent.
We've also agreed that new furniture is a bad idea with young kids! Our hand-me-downs will have to past us a few more years.

Sort of off topic but I wanted to say that we've been having a lot more poo and pee leaks in the size 3s. I'm wondering if because the weight range is so much bigger than the previous sizes if the fit isn't as good. We found that diapers that worked for us in smaller sizes are giving us more leaks now so we're playing around with brands again to try to avoid the leaks altogether.

I will say that I've noticed more leaks with the Up & Up. I like them, but now that he's been having these leaky poops, I'm not liking them as much. I'm not really that loyal to anything, but have been pleased with Baby Dry at this size.
FWIW, I spent a long time on the phone with the pedi's nurse and we determined this is most likely pre-teething, so we may have quite a bit of this in our future!

Haha. Up and Ups have been our problem too, but I was trying not to name brands! I'm very sad b/c they are sooooooo much cheaper than the Pampers!

Is this the proper place to mention that I hate the baby girl outfits that only come with little underwear bottoms instead of real pants or shorts? I need pants or shorts on her in case of a poop explosion or leak.
When we had a fabric couch we used a baby wipe to clean up spills. When we replaced our couches we got leather because no matter what we did we ended up with dirty looking couches

I love our leather furniture for this reason. We haven't had any poopexplosions (yet!) but it makes cleaning up drool, breast milk, and spit up so much easier!

Oh no! I just bought a huge box of size 3 up and up, as DS is almost out of size 2. I think I'm going to return them for a smaller size box to try before the bigger box. I'm complained about up and up in the past, and these posts made me realize that when he was in the lower part of the weight range we had more issues. Thanks for potentially saving DH and me a lot of complaining!!!
OP, I don't have any couch advice but it sounds like the others gave good advice.
Oh, I do have a little preventive advice for next time. In the chair I feed DS in in the living room, I drape a a blanket over it to catch any explosion spit ups when burping. When that happens I can just wash the blanket. I'm not sure if you have a blanket that is big enough or that you want on your couch all the time. Then I can take it off the chair when we have company over and pretend DS hasn't completely taken over the house. Lol.
