I think that I am officially done pumping at work. Woohoo!
I had dropped down to two sessions a few weeks ago, and had planned to drop to one this week. Because of a crazy week, I've actually ended up not pumping at all for the last three days and it's been ok engorgement-wise.
That said - when you dropped pumping, especially if you did so right around a year (C will be one on Sunday), what did your weekends look like? The past few weekends after dropping sessions I had still been nursing morning, before naps, and bedtime. I gave him bottles after naps to make up the difference, and he's eating three meals and random snacks throughout the day. Should I try to drop the before naps nursing, or let him try to nurse on the weekends and see if he even gets anything and deal with some possible engorgement on Monday? Or just redirect him with whole milk and a snack instead? We will continue to nurse before bed and at wake up for the foreseeable future.
Also, bonus points for tips on switching to whole milk! I've given it to him twice this week to try, once in a sippy and once in a bottle. He drank some from the sippy, but not all. H said he drank a full 4oz in a bottle yesterday no problem. Did you find it easiest to switch over cold turkey? Or give it to your LO here and there to try? I have probably another couple weeks of freezer stash that I'm going to use up and then plan to transition him. I'm not sure if it's best to transition straight to sippy cups at the same time and leave the bottles behind?
I still nursed on demand on the weekends until about 15 months after I quit the pump at 12 months. It was a non issue for me. I would do whatever you feel comfortable with - if you don't mind possible engorgement on Monday, then nurse as usual.
As far as WCM, N used my freezer stash from Oct to Dec. The last 2 weeks, I only sent 1 bag of milk and they supplemented w/ WCM. I was lucky, as he wasn't picky at all. I would probably try cold turkey, and then reevaluate if needed. GL!
I nurse on demand on the weekends and any vacations. I'm not trying to wean the baby, I just don't want to pump at work. My body has been fine with going back and forth at around a year (this time, it was closer to 10.5 months).
DD is on WCM when I'm gone. We just went cold-turkey. She likes it. DS did not like it; he pretty much drank water when I was gone and made up for it with nursing together.

This is where I am. I don't want to wean him, but just don't want to pump at work anymore. I really like nursing when we're together, so I'll continue to nurse on demand and just start sending WCM to daycare once our freezer stash is gone.

I nursed on demand on the weekends. I keep a hand pump and bottle at work just in case I felt really engorged and needed to use it, but I don't think I ever did.
