DS is 6 months. We've had the rainforest jumperoo since he was 4 months. He does not like it. He's 90% height and weight and has good head control, so I don't think it's an issues of size/not reaching etc. Before we went on holiday I had said that if he didn't like it when we returned, I would sell it. Since we came home, he did play in it very happily for 5 minutes. We have a 1100 sq ft home and we don't have room for this to just sit around. And if I'm only going to get 5 minutes out of it, I'm not sure it's worth it. He's nearly crawling and I'm really sad about not having a containment device for when he's mobile. Should I just sell it or will he grow to love it?

I don't know, but if he's only 6 months i'd give it more time.
However, my DD never liked it. She much preferred to sit on a blanket with all her toys. She tolerated it for less than 10 mins for about 5 times total! Most people say there babies love it
6m is pretty early to give up on it IMO. Are you sure the height is adjusted correctly for him? My Dd fusses a lot of it's too low for her.
Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn't thought about the height being to low. We put it on the lowest height when we got it and haven't changed it. I'll give that a try b/c DS is tall.
And yes, in my heart of hearts, I think it probably is too early to give up on it, I just can't stand having all this crap around, lol!

DD is 6mth & loves her jumperoo. She's finally tall enough that she can bounce and swing (she bounces then picks her legs up) all around. She's a shorty (25.75") so we have it on the lowest setting. We usually turn baby einstein on and let her go to town in that thing.

We never owned one, so maybe i don't really get the big deal about trying to make it work. This is certainly not a need. If it is taking up space and you don't use it, sell it.

Right now I can make dinner with him just playing on the floor b/c he can't go far. I'm worried about when he's crawling how I'll get little tasks done. How did you do things like that without a jumperoo? And yes, lol, I know that people survived thousands of years w/o jumperoos

I just let him crawl and follow me around the house. Having DH play with him while I made dinner has been nice, but I've been able to manage on occasion by myself. That said, the jumperoo was handy while it lasted. For us, DS loved it early on, but was completely over it by 8 months, which coincidentally is about when he started crawling.

meh, some kids aren't into it. My DD hated the jumperoo. My DS would like it for about 5-10 minutes before he wanted out. My niece would bounce until she passed out.
Both of my kids loved the exersaucer and the swing. Some kids aren't into bouncing
DS2 isn't/wasn't a fan of the jumperoo, either. We put gates up around the stairs and keep little things off of the floor. I don't have any valuable/decorative stuff in his reach, so he's free to crawl around and explore when I'm working.
if I'm doing something messy, where I can't run and redirect him if necessary, I put him in the high chair. Sometimes I give him a snack, sometimes toys or kitchen stuff, and sometimes we just talk and sing.
I have a Superyard, but have never really used it.

We would let her crawl around on the floor. If she needed to be contained we could put her in her crib or the PNP. If we were in the kitchen we might use the high chair. Or someone would watch her while the other one cooked/cleaned/whatever.
I'm wondering if I put ours together correctly. J is pretty tall (~27 inches at least) and his feet don't touch the floor.
Hav eyou showed baby cricket how to jump? Sometimes I get J moving or jump like a frog into front of him (he loves that!).
Do you have a PnP or exersaucer? Those are my other two containment devices (aka baby cages) (and the crib if I'm upstairs)
Hmm. I'm surprised his feet don't touch. DS carries most of his length in the torso and he still touches easily. Do you have it on the lowest setting?
We don't have a PNP or exersaucer. I'm very tempted to sell the jumperoo and buy an exersaucer though. We visited a friend who had the Evenflo jungle one and he loved that thing. So maybe he just doesn't like jumping as nonsenseabound suggested. DH isn't home until near 7 on weeknights so getting him to help watch DS while I make dinner isn't an option. The only containment devices that we have are the crib which I don't want to put him in at that time of day and the high chair. Yesterday he was happy in the high chair for about 5 minutes (playing). But maybe as we begin solids he can be occupied with food as I make dinner. And maybe it won't be a big deal at all to just let him crawl around, I just really liked the idea of the jumperoo as my babysitter, lol!
The first few weeks (we got it around 5months) he would do like 3-5 minutes. He didn't seem into it. Now likes it more, cause he figured how turn around in it. it still only buys us 15 min max. He prefers his play mat on floor.
