I just left the doctor's office with DS2 who is 3 1/2 months. He has had congestion for about a month now that he just can't seem to kick. Anyways, we went in today and saw an NP that we hadn't seen before and she told me I should give him claritin??? Is that a thing this young?? Thought I would see if anyone else had experience.

I definitely wouldn't give claritin to a child that young. I've heard of that being a symptom of a milk allergy and at that age I would rather pinpoint the issue than mask it with medications. I wouldn't want to use claritin that little without confirmation that allergies are the issue.

Huh, the milk allergy thing makes me curious as I have wondered about some other symptoms. Didn't know that was a sign, thanks.

I asked our pedi about allergies since I have them bad and he was showing similar symptoms around when I was... She said under a year or so they mostly can't have seasonal allergies (not saying it's impossible in your case though!). I would get another opinion.

Are you nursing or FF? If nursing, try cutting the milk out of your diet. It will take 2-3 weeks to see symptoms clear up. My middle had milk and soy intolerance and within 3 weeks of cutting out all dairy and soy she was seriously a different child. It sounds like it might be mild (hers was more severe). It can't hurt to try for that and if it's not that you'll have ruled something out. Hope your LO feels better soon!
Nursing. I googled a little and it looks like it definitely might be worth a try. Thanks
I hope this works for you! I will say it was a difficult diet to follow (more things had dairy or soy than I ever realized) but it worked for my daughter and was amazing for post baby weight loss lol!
