DS, 22 months, just woke up from his nap with a fever of 102.5. Not too bad, but not good. I just gave him some mortin. His mood is excellent, anyone think this could be a 12 hour bug?
We are scheduled to go OOT tomorrow to a friends housewarming party about four hours away to spend the night. Ugh. I don't think I can bring him if he has a fever.
Any teeth? I'd see how he does tomorrow before deciding about the party. Can you leave him with DH or a babysitter?
It's DH's friend and he could go without us, but frankly I'm not a fan of that. He wouldn't be back until Sunday afternoon and I've done a lot of solo parenting lately.
Personally I wouldn't give motrin unless the fever was dangerously high. Fever is the body's way of fighting sickness so by just taking it easy and getting plenty of rest he should be on the mend quickly, especially as you said he is in a good mood. But like pp suggested I'd make the decision on the morning.

Everything I've read/heard says to treat anything over 102 for children 6-24 months. I wouldn't wait for it to be "dangerously high" and wouldn't even feel comfortable deciding what that number is.

I hope he's feeling better & you get to go. Maybe it's because I'm a FTM and anxiety-prone anyway, but I'd be freaking out with that kind of a fever and definitely would have given him something and/or gone to urgent care so they could.

I would not take him to the party. But, DS has never been one to have fevers unless he's genuinely sick. Last time DS had a fever like that, he started off happy but quickly went downhill.
