I'm going to call the pedi as soon as they open at 9, but I thought I'd ask here first.
DS had scarlet fever 2 weeks ago. His only sign was a fever, but he had a stuffy nose, too. His throat never hurt. He just finished 10 days of amoxycillan (sp) on Tuesday. Last night he was acting tired and moody. When we took his temp it was 101.2. His nose is stuffy and he says his throat doesn't hurt.

It's strep again. Now he's on ten days of a stronger antibiotic. He's sad because grammy was going to take them to see Planes Fire and Rescue today. We are still going to try to camp out in our backyard tonight and he should be able to go to the movie tomorrow after he's been on medicine for 24 hours.
ETA: He's also got to take Zyrtec once a day for the nose - it's always stuffed up and itchy and he gets frequent nosebleeds from rubbing. The pedi said that chronic allergies can lead to a sinus infection which may be a contributing factor in the strep lingering.
Be prepared for zyrtec to potentially make him very tired.
He's been on it before occasionally. I'm planning on doing the abx at breakfast and after dinner (roughly 6 am and 6 pm), a probiotic around lunchtime, and the allergy medicine right before bed. She didn't say when to discontinue the Zyrtec, but he has a well visit in September so I'll ask then.
I'm guessing it could be a nearly year-round thing because his nose is always bothering him. We don't really know what he's allergic to (he was tested for the 16 most common allergens when we were ruling out asthma for his frequent bronchiolitis when he was a toddler). I suppose it is something we didn't test for or he has become allergic to something we already checked (dust, dander, grass, etc).
