There is a potential job opportunity where I would be doing the same job I am here but be making about $25,000 more a year there. As a single mom this would be good and make me feel like I can do this on my own. Problem is it's out of state...but just a plane ride a away. I used to live in this state and have a ton of friends there that i still keep in touch with. But my family lives in the current state that I'm in... I don't know what to do!
That's tough. Do you see your family often? I think the relationships and the dynamics with the people you are currently close to will help you determine if you should consider this move.
And remember, you it's a job opportunity. It's not a guarantee. Maybe apply and see how it goes.
Besides what everyone else said, are there other benefits you have now that you wont get in the new state? Or more state income taxes or anything that may offset the higher salary?

Consult with a lawyer about what an out of state move would entail. At the very least, you will have to redo your visitation schedule. You might end up getting stuck with a lot of travel expenses for visitation, so that's something to take into account. Depending on your state, the dad's travel expenses for visitation might also lower your child support. You could also end up in a heated court battle if your ex fights the move. You need to talk to a lawyer and find out the implications of accepting an out of state job, along with considering the important factors mentioned by inara.
