I really hope Artie T comes back. Artie S will probably just sell the chain off and what will I do without sketchy basket
I hope so too. I was talking to DH that MB will probably fold/collapse/get sold off now that Artie S is in charge but I didn't think that would be for a few years.
It is so sad. I really hope they don't ruin MB. We do all our shopping there because the prices are reliably better than anywhere else. I do not want to go back to shopping the sale flyers and going to multiple stores.
Yes to loving Market Basket! I'm one of those shoppers boycotting until Artie T comes back. I feel for the Sr. Managers who got canned. Thorton and Gooch, the current co-CEOs are looking bad...this press will haunt them. They should step down and take a long quiet sabbatical.
?? Like, to buy out the chain? The nearest Kroger is in Virginia.
It wouldn't matter if the nearest Kroger was Virginia. A big chain could come in and buy MB if the Artie T bid fails.
Yeah, I read the OP to say that nearby supermarkets would be salivating. Because I know Shaws and Stop n Shop and Hannaford are all killing it this week. The only reason I could think of for a chain like Kroger to care would be buyout.

Kroger owns something like 8 chains ... Kroger, Fred Meyer, Harris teeter, bakers, jay c, smiths, and more I'm forgetting. They are in 31 states, largest grocery chain in the United States.
