My 15th h.s. reunion is this weekend, and it's going to be a very low-key affair - basically a mixer at a dive bar/saloon. I've been stalking Pinterest for ideas, but I'm coming up short - I was thinking of pairing distressed jeans with...something. I'd like to fancy them up with a somewhat nicer top, but I can't figure out what to pair them with. I could also break out my skinny camo pants, but I may get laughed out of the bar - most people in my western NY town who wear camo do so when they go hunting. I don't think I'd have the guts to pull off wearing them without feeling self conscious.
I'm having a severe case of fashion block, and so far this is the best I've been able to come up with:
Outfit idea #1: This linen top + distressed jeans + these flat sandals (but in gold - they look nicer in person):
Outfit idea #2: The above jeans with...some other top, TBD (if needed, could be purchased on Wednesday)
Outfit idea #3: Camo skinnies + white racerbank tank w/rose-gold-sequined yoke (grr, can't find a pic online) + Sam Edelmann brown Gigis
Outfit idea #4: ummm, something else?
For reference, our 10 year reunion was something similar, and I felt VERY overdressed in a black & white dress I picked up at WHBM - most people wore jeans, and I think the fanciest person (other than me) wore a maxi dress. Temps this weekend are supposed to be around 80.
I also got a really cute mint t-back chiffon top that I wore with a pair of distressed jeans last weekend. It was really cute, but it's not on the website.
Yep, we do! I love this shirt, though I'm not sure what kind of bra I'd wear with it - my bewbs are too big to go freebirding.
No to the linen top. It will wrinkle as soon as you put it on and its white!! That is just a recipe for disaster at a dive bar
Ditto, it also kinda looks more like something you'd wear to the grocery store or to play at the park with the kids. I get that it's at a dive bar, but it's your reunion! You wanna look good and put together. I like the tanks suggested.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. The top actually has a gold-beaded neckline, so it's nicer than a plain linen tee.
I'll look into those tanks, or maybe jazzing up a plain tank with a statement necklace. I may try to take some dressing room photos if I go tomorrow, since I'm having a tough time picturing how those tops would look with the jeans.
Bimbi, those are awesome - I love that 2nd photo. For some reason I was having a hard time picturing these, but the photos are a huge help. Thank you!
You're welcome! I look forward to seeing your final look! Feel free to post fitting room pics here if you need additional help, I did the same thing when trying to figure out what to wear for my 10 year reunion a couple of years ago.
OK, so I found a few options at H&M. I bought 3 shirts, though looking at the photos I took I'm kinda kicking myself for not getting a white lace top I tried on - but it was the priciest of the options, and I really need to curb my spending. I'm leaning towards the bright coral top with the jeans pictured, but I'd like to get other opinions.
Option 1: pretty darn comfy, though I don't know if the color is quite fancy enough. It's a silky, flowy material (looks more luxe in person than this photo shows)
Option 2: I like this top a lot more than I thought I would, but I don't know if I need another black top
Option 3: I really like this top - the color is really pretty in person
Andplusalso, someone who is petite needs to go get this dress. It was super comfy, but almost obscenely short on me. Yet another time I've wished I had shorter legs!
Yeah, the more I look at the first one the more I don't think it'll work out. Meh. I saw the mint chiffon top a PP had suggested (I think it was the same style as this one?), but they didn't have my size.
I shouldn't have asked DH's opinion - he burst my bubble by saying the bright top makes me look like I'm trying to be young. Jerk.
