Constant nursing during growth spurt ok?

I think we've entered the infamous 4-6 week growth spurt. G is 5 weeks today, so at least he's punctual?

He slept like crap last night, has been incredibly fussy today, and is only happy when he's nursing. So I've been letting him. He's eating pretty well and also falling asleep. If I try to move him to his rnp to sleep, he wakes up and is not a happy camper.

Is this a growth spurt? I want my happy(ier) baby back. :/

Yep. Normal. Just nurse through it. Have your H pick you up some snacks on the way home and queue up some good movies on Netflix!

Definitely growth spurt. Just keep nursing and have the remote, snacks and your phone handy. I remember one night nursing for nearly four hours!

Wonder Weeks says the first growth spurt is at 5 weeks, so he's definitely punctual. We went through a mini-spurt at 2w when DS was getting back to birth weight and then today he's been acting the same. He's 3w tomorrow so I guess this is a preview?

perfectly okay, but so awful. I can't remember if it was the 3 or 6 week spurt, but I sat in the same spot for 12 hours with only two bathroom breaks. he nursed at least 40 minutes of every hour and would doze in between. but now I only remember if when someone brings it up, so hang in there! I know it's so tough right now, but in a few months it will be a distant memory.

Totally normal. DS nursed pretty much non-stop during his 6w growth spurt. You're doing great! It's perfectly normal that LO wants to nurse and be held. But some yummy snacks and rent good movies!

Oh good, it's not just us!  DS was sleeping like a champ last night and then at 4 am it all went to shit.  He would not settle or be soothed.  Usually his best sleep happens between 6-9 am but no, this morning it was all fussing and nursing.  His sleep during the day only came if he was being held.  He finally seems to have his wits about him this evening, but we'll see what the night holds.

For us, the best newborn sleep happened after the 3 and 6 week growth spurts, just hold tight.

I got to watch a LOT of the Olympics while going through these spurts.

This post inspired me to go back at look at my app. When L was 5 weeks old, I was nursing an average of about 7 hours a day! Hang in there. It does get better!
