I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. Everyone keeps telling me how fantastic it is, and it's been an easy book to get sucked into, but right now I'm just like is there more to it than Jamie and Claire having sex?? Lol.
Ah.. Hahahahaha so much more! But, that is a chunk of it. She does a phenomenal job (in my opinion), of detailing each charater and their story within the story. I haven't read any the books in a while(2009ish); it took her a lot longer to get the most recent book out.
it's good so far. I'm only on page 182, out of 800+. Jem has a POV, so that's fun. it's been slow going for me, between work being crazy and working on house projects.

That is pretty awesome about Jem. I think I'm going to jump it up on my list. Yeah, my actual book reading, has been really slow. Work/life has been busy here as well.
I am so jealous! I LOVED that series...wish I could start it all over again without knowing what was going to happen.
I have a problem right now--about 7 books came in to the library for me at the same time!
I think the one on deck is going to be "The Book of Life" by Deborah Harkness...
that one is on deck for me too! I had preordered the ebook months ago, and it just hit my nook last week.
I like your taste in books!
All of these books were waiting for me today when I went in (oh,I work in a library): The Girls of August by Anne Rivers Siddons All Fall Down by Jennifer Weiner The Hundred-Foot Journey by Richard C. Morris The Farm by Tom Rob Smith Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
plus I just bought the latest Outlander book on my Kindle! I'll have to throw a few back and rerequest them....
Did you know she was interviewed in Ms. magazine- I think for this month? I never buy magazines anymore and I bought it. I need to find an hour of quiet to read the interview and enjoy the magazine. I love her books.

I'm reading ml obviously.
I am an in bed reader, and with room sharing I will have to wait a bit to start a new book until cricket is in her crib.
I have been reading some random stuff on my tablet/phone about blending families, behavioral disorders in children, how to keep a baby alive type articles.
While it's a shame that Tartt had to be the whipping boy of this over-arching cultural trend, it does need to be said. There is a shift toward the, errr, less intellectually-captivating when it comes to literature and it is important to acknowledge. Maybe not quite so snobbishly, but, to turn an equally cliche phrase, it is what it is. Be gone , Goldfinch. How you won the Pulitzer, only insiders may ever know.
And LO-freaking-L that Galassi at FS&G hasn't even read it yet but is being quoted for VF. Never change.
I LOVED TSH, and struggled through TLF. I couldn't even get through The Goldfinch without rolling my eyes.
I like to think she just needed recognition for TSH, because that was an amazing book. And sometimes your best book is your first. No shame.
We'll have to wait another ten years to hammer out another one before we see how it all pans out. :-p
I've avoided reading this for a long time but got a wild hair to watch the movie over the weekend and was like, that was so good I need to read the book now.
I was curious because I knew the book was a series of letters and the film completely bypassed that, so I wondered what else was different.
It's so so so much "better" than the movie. I really liked the book (I feel weird liking it or saying it's good on account of the subject matter , but it was really good aside from that). I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The movie sort of sucked . Enjoy!
