Just finished that yesterday. Haven't decided what to read next.
Ugh, quote fail. It's "Red Rising"
What'd you think of it? I'm halfway through. .. they just ran off with the other teams cook. Lol the friend that recommended it to me is biting her nails excited for the next one to come out.
iamali Empty Mansions was so fascinating. Such a great read.
For sure!
It was so sad what happened at the end of her life.
I was also shocked at how.... easily(? I feel like that isn't the right word) she spent money. I guess when you're ultra weathly you lose touch with the "real world". Did you think maybe she had some sort of mental illness?

I think she did have a mental illness. There were a lot of hints that pointed toward it. It was like she never really grew up. I feel like a lot of those people were taking advantage of her. The nurses comments pissed me off. And then the notes the kids wrote or things the nurse hinted at needing in order to get more out of the lady. $38 million?! That wasn't good enough? Oh and rolling around in a Rolls Royce? I didn't care for the nurse at all or the hospital. Such a sad story.
She threw money away, I agree. She never wanted or needed for anything (except companionship I guess) due to her wealth. That on top of her illness (I really think that was the case) is why I think she just threw it away. She didn't have a concept of money really. She had never had to handle it or earn it herself.
I was impressed with her father and how he came from nothing into millions (billions?)! His story was amazing too. I wonder why his name isn't all that big versus the Vanderbilts and Rockefeller. His accomplishments were huge and he ran in the same circles yet his name is unknown.
"When We Were the Kennedys" (PIP not working for me, sorry.) It's been a really quick read. I don't think I'd like it as much if I weren't familiar with the area where they lived.

I enjoyed it - it reminded me of a more graphically violent (in some ways) version of The Hunger Games. I plan on reading the next one when it comes out
