1) Is it weird for a toddler to use a sleep sack?? I am tempted to buy a couple more since I only really have one atm, and DD moves around like CRAZY in her sleep so even if I put a blanket on her this winter, it will be off within 10 mins. Is this "bad"? Who has a toddler that uses a sleep sack still?
2) This is a stupid question. What car seat do I need to buy for DD next? As in, is my only choice a convertible car seat, or is there a "regular" one too? She is still in the Graco 35 click connect or whatever it is, but essentially the infant bucket seat type. I know it says max of 32" but her legs are long and she seems uncomfortable sometimes. Toes are pretty much at the edge.
3) Language skills at 10 months old? She understands words, and I am amazed. I can say, "Go pick out a book to read" and she'll crawl over the shelf and choose a book. Or I can say touch mommy's nose, and she knows nose. She knows what the words dog and cat mean, as well as "let go", "sit down", and similar. Babbles consonants and vowels all day every day. But she's really only "said" mama, papa, and dada. I don't know if I can say she has really said those words, even. Her version of mama is mamamamamamaaaaa until I respond lol. What kind of verbal skills did/does your 10 month old have?
1) No, not weird. Do what works. DS was in one until he was 2 and in a bed. 2) Yes, convertible. The "regular" ones are forward-facing only, the "convertible" refers to facing both directions. 3) Start signing if you want her to communicate more. DD is 11 months and sort of says ma, da, ca(t).

1. Nope, not weird. If they are comfy, do what works. My older kids are pretty big and wore sleep sacks until they were over 2 years old. Here they are at 18 months.
2. Yup, you want a convertible seat so you can RF your DD.
3. That sounds more than fine for a 10-month old. We had a speech therapist here this morning to look at DS2's eating (he's 13 months) and she said as long as he understands a few things and is babbling, that's fine. They aren't expected to have any words at 10 months.
1. We used a sleep sack until DD was about 18 months. It was the only way we could keep her warm in the colder months, she moves around so much while she's sleeping.
2. A convertible would be the way to go next. If you don't mind the infant carrier you can keep using it until she reaches the limits. Even when their feet are touching the seat they are typically quite comfortable.
3. My DD was an early talker and had a handful of words at 10 months and we started signing at 9 months. Most of the kiddos I know started to pick up verbal skills after their first birthday and start signing before that.

DD is 2 and we just stopped using a sleep sack. I kept it in her until I was convinced she wouldn't try to take her diaper off in the middle of the night
1. i haven't decided what we will do about a sleep sack, but it's definitely not weird. they make them with feet holes!
2. you want convertible to rear face, which most of them are.
3. L says 4 (maybe 5 or 6 actually) words and now signs 2- "more" and "all-done." she tries help but just mashes all the signs together lol she is insanely chatty. it's strange because i am not a talker at all.
i think your dd sounds right on target for speaking though and more what i would expect from a 10 month old.

TIA!
1) DD was using sleep sacks past 18 months, so I think you're good 2) Convertible is your next step IMO 3) She's doing great. Then again, DD didn't talk until 18 months (more focused on motor skills). But she clearly understood commands, could hear us, etc

Thanks all! Very helpful, per usual.
swizz for the potential to limit a climber alone, I may keep going…forever. This kid climbs everything. EVERY.THING.Her new favorite is the high chair. She's freaking fast.
buffysummers I lol'd big time at your reply omg, I feel like you have stories.
We've tried signing, but for some reason she just won't. She's all for doing other physical things on command, like I'll say "high five" and she does that, or "clap clap clap" and she'll clap. Or "dance" and she bounces. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Maybe just not trying hard enough?? idk. She got the other "commands" with ease. She's willful, however, lol.
1) Is it weird for a toddler to use a sleep sack?? I don't think so. J just started using one at 12m because she went from bed-sharing to solo crib-ing, and the sleep sack helps keep her warm enough.
2) This is a stupid question. What car seat do I need to buy for DD next? You will want a convertible. My prediction is that you will choose a Britax Marathon.
3) Language skills at 10 months old? It varies so much. One of J's friends had SEVERAL words at 10m, some in English and some in Spanish.
I am a bad mom and can't 100% remember when J had her first word exactly, but she only had 'hi' for a while. I just checked our record and it looks like she had 10 words at 12m. Sometimes it takes me a while to figure out that she is saying something consistently too. Now at 14m, I feel like she is learning 1-3 new words a week, which is really cool!
The first time she signed to us was the 'out came the sun' motion for Itsy Bitsy. She was seven months old at that point and was ecstatic that we would sing to her every time she did the sign. So she did it for about 45 minutes straight. Lol.
