DS is almost 6 mos old. For the last week, he has been waking up crying about every hour overnight. He eats 1-2x a night, and otherwise can get back to sleep with replacing the pacifier, rolling him to a new position (he rolls to iOS tummy to sleep), and rubbing his back.
We are tired. Any idea why he would be waking up crying? Is it just that he wants the pacifier? I feel sort of trapped, because he also spits up a ton. If we let him cry at all, he spits up.
He just got two teeth, but they have fully come in so shouldn't be hurting him, right? He hasn't seemed bothered by them during the day for the past couple days.
He hasn't figured out how to put the pacifier back in on his own.
does he fall asleep on his own, the ol' drowsy but awake? that can make a huge difference around 5-6 months. I recommended this earlier to someone else, too - search "object permenance" on the troublesome tots blog. it's my go to for sleep advice and so far she's been spot on with each issue we've faced.

Yup, object permanence was going to be my 'internet diagnosis' too. It sucks, and I'm sorry. Time to work on drowsy but awake.
Troublesome Tots IS great with this. However, I think her site might make it sounds like CIO is the only option. What worked for us was basically letting DD fall asleep where she normally would (nursing, being held/bounced, etc) but then rousing her when we put her down. Then we would gradually bounce/nurse/whatever less until we could eventually put her in the crib totally awake and she would fall asleep 100% on her own.
Thanks for the replies! I'll take a look at mekiakoo 's posts to see what was suggested before. I didn't know there was a 6mo wakeful. Between all these growth spurts and wakefuls and teething, we haven't had any "normal."
I'll check troublesome tots. We can do drowsy but awake for naps, but at night he usually ends up crying and spitting until we rock him fully asleep.
Is object permanence still an issue if we are in the same room? We have a 1 bdrm apt for the next month, so his crib is in with us.
