There's been a lot of talk about unassisted sitting lately. J likes to sit up against things or have us hold him up. Will he learn to do it on his own by us holding him in a sitting position? I assume this will help him learn to sit up unassisted.
During wakeful periods when LO is just awake MOTN, what do you ? Leave them be? Last night I watched J play with his PJ's for a couple minutes then I went in and rocked him and patted his back. There is no crying. I ended up feeding him so he would sleep.
It's normal for kids to hit their heads a lot, right? OMG, the attempts to pull up. Yesterday he slammed his head on his dresser. MOTN was letting him pull up using the drawer pulls. How do you get through the stage of pulling up & learning to walk w/o major injuries?

We have been putting her in a tripod like position where she is supported by her hands out in front. She can only sit for a few seconds without tipping over though.
We don't do anything but she doesn't ever just really lie there or play by herself for a long time.
What are the basics that I need to start solids? Spoon, spork, plate, bowl and highchair. Do I need to get a sippy at this time too?

We bought some plastic bibs as well. The sippy isn't necessary, but our pedi suggested offering it to her just to get her used to taking a break to "drink" even though she doesn't really drink anything. She will eventually figure it out, I figure.
PPD/PPA could that also be serious agitation? I don't really hate my H but I feel like everything he does lately I roll my eyes at or get annoyed with him over anything. We were great the first few months after her birth. His family is irritating me also, like I keep making plans for the weekend so we don't have to see them and take the baby to them.
I don't feel PPD/PPA but am nervous about it from stories here and people I personally know that went through it.
I was getting seriously annoying with my H before we went on vacation. Vacation made a world of different, and now that I've been away from him for almost two weeks and doing everything myself, I realize he actually does do a lot to help out

I just got bowls & spoons - no plates. I bought a couple munchkin straw cups too.

Does the straw cup come before a sippy or instead of a sippy? What do you put in the straw cup-water, bm?

I wouldn't recommend a plate for a while, as it will generally be heaved off the side of the high chair. Does your high chair have one of the trays that snaps on? I just used that and then rinsed after. And I got the sippy's with straws as DS was lazy and took forever to figure out how to tip a cup to get anything out. He started those at 7-8ish months?
Is it okay to leave toys in the crib overnight? DS plays with a bunch of toys in the crib for 20-30 minutes with no crying and falls to sleep during nap time. We aren't worried because we watch him while he naps through the monitor. I am thinking of leaving some stuffed animals overnight but am worried that it isn't a good idea.
How many times should I pump a day while on ML? I started this week, about an hour after his morning feeding, for about 20 minutes. I'm only doing it that one time/day though. I get roughly 1.5-2 oz.

geek96 how old is your LO? It depends a bit on the toy - how big and plush. Can your LO move well? Could your LO get tangled up? Some people leave lovies in the crib as early as 6-8 months. Personally, I'd wait 12 months and probably wouldn't leave multiple toys.

Are you trying to build a freezer stash? By pumping while nursing on ML, you're encouraging your body to make more milk than necessary - which is good for freezer supply. I would only pump once per day, that should be sufficient. Once you go back to work, usually you pump three times/day.
Feeding question - we have been doing rice and oatmeal 2x/day for a month now. I was going to start banana this morning and cracked open a package of Gerber Stage 1 Banana. I tasted it and oh my it was like sickeningly sweet and the banana smell was overwhelming. I couldn't bear to feed that to DD if I didn't even want to eat it.
I was going to stop by the store and buy real bananas and just mush it up really finely and thin it with formula for her to eat. She can't sit up yet so I am going to only do puree-style food for now.

Yes, trying to build a stash. I'm OK eventually supplementing, but would like to have some leeway in case I get sick, want a night out, or in case my supply tanks after going back to work.

I started pumping once a day, though not every day, at about 5 weeks. When I went back to work I pumped three times to replace her missed feedings. Sometimes I'd get a little extra, which I then froze. An hour after the morning feed is a good time to pump.

He's 10.5 months. He does move well but I am looking for a solution to him immediately crying when he wakes. He is only content in the crib if he is playing with something.
After your kid is older than 6 months, what type of containment device do you put them in when you're eating dinner at someone else's house?
We ran into this problem at my moms this past weekend. I mentioned I should get a bouncer or something for him to sit in while we eat and she said he would grow out of it soon so there was no need for one. That made me think, what do you do with them?

We have a friend who brings their high chair with them everywhere. I thought it was kind of weird but now understand why! Haven't resorted to that yet. We just take shifts eating.

She is only 5 months right now but we put her in the rnp with seatbelt. I think people are surprised when we bring it but it is really convenient! I think we can do this for another few months.

Am I crazy?
Why is this crazy? I planned this for my dd's first food too. We probably aren't doing oatmeal because my H and I both personally hate the taste/texture so we don't want to feed it to our kid.

What about the FP newborn to toddler rocker? It's good up to 40 pounds.
Should I feel guilty/do something about the fact that my kid generally needs to be moving in order to fall asleep for a nap (car, swing, me baby wearing her)…it isn't every nap, but usually the later it is in the day, the more she fusses and the more she needs to be moving to fall asleep. This is new, when she was a newborn she would just fall asleep when she was tired, now she is fighting it.

This is what I'm thinking. DS likes his at home. I think I'm going to look for another.
