I want to make a nap mat for DD as I'm not thrilled with any of the ones I've found. I'm guessing I'm going to have to piece it together based on a few tutorials because I want one that fits a KinderMat (want to be able to remove and wash the cover), has an attached pillowcase with removable pillow insert, a blanket attached, and then straps to keep it bundled together and a carry strap.
I seem to be asking for the moon!
Anyone have a nap mat tutorial recommendation that might work or just a solid tutorial that I might be able to use as a jumping off point?

Before you make one, make sure you can use it at your child's school. In my state, health regulations do not allow fabric covers in public school since they cannot be sanitized daily as required. My daughter in daycare's blankets are washed daily at the center--obviously this is not an option everywhere. Before you go to the trouble, just make sure it will be permitted I say this as a K teacher who has had to disappoint many a parent with this news.

Thanks! No concerns with the health regulations here. She's actually been at this MDO this summer and was at a different MDO (Mothers Day Out) with her current nap mat all last year. It's a Three Martha's mat and it's cute (and I like that it uses the Kindermat) but it drives me bananas because it doesn't have an attached blanket and it doesn't stay closed. It's a pain to carry.
