My e-ring has two marquis diamonds on the side of the center stone, and yesterday I noticed one has a serious gouge in it - a jagged edge and a chunk gone. I have no idea what could have happened. I just took the ring into the jewelers two weeks ago because one of the small diamonds in the band had fallen out and I wanted to get it replaced. I feel like I'm having the worst luck suddenly with my ring.
Anyone had this happen? I don't have separate jewelry insurance for my ring (I guess I should have) and I know we cannot afford to replace the stone now (husband is in grad school) but I should still probably take it back in to the jeweler, right? Perhaps they could at least smooth out the jagged edge?
I've had my ring ~6.5 years, but am suddenly feeling like maybe it is just too delicate for every day wear, which I know is ridiculous to think, but still. I do take it off at night, when I shower, do dishes, work out, etc.
I would have expected that while your jeweler had your ring, they would have inspected it for any other issues; do you know if they did that? I would certainly bring it back to see what they can do, if anything. I'd probably stop wearing it until I could get it fixed. Sorry this happened.

I am so sorry. That stinks.
I would bring it the jeweler to see what they can do with it and if it can be repaired.
I know you said you don't have insurance on the ring, but it's generally not that expensive and probably worth looking into. You want to get a jewelry rider.
I should look into having jewelry insurance again - we had it for the first few years (when we were engaged and first married) but then it expired and I just let it lapse.
I will look into our renters insurance in case that would help at all.
