Do you have the jar attachment? If so which size and do you like the way it works?
Hi! Sorry I am a day late on this, and am committing a GBCN faux pas of quoting the OP, but I wanted to make sure you got notification of a reply. We are on our second food saver. The first lasted quite a while - we did lots of fish and deer, in addition to random supermarket stock up freezing. It finally kicked the bucket as we were finishing processing our SIX deer two years ago. I couldn't blame it at that point! There are more expensive brands but for what our Food Saver accomplished over 4 years, I'm not entirely sure the cost is worth it unless we started vacuum sealing a lot more. I have not had the opportunity to use a jar sealer, but am certainly intrigued! But we initially wanted our vacuum sealer so that we could process our fish and game so it wasn't an attachment I initially sought out.
We have a chamber vacuum sealer. It was a birthday present for DH (I could not understand how it could be worth the cost or how big it is) and now I absolutely love it. Because it can do liquids easily (vs the ones that pull a vacuum like the food saver), we use it for instant marinades, instant pickling, making batches of sauce/stock to freeze. I love it for meat/fish. Can buy in bulk, and absolutely no freezer burn. Not sure of the model we have but I can check if you'd like.
We also have a sous vide (hence the original want for a vacuum sealer) and I love that thing too.
