Like I said, I'm a total hosebeast tonight so I say ask her politely to stop because you don't need to get 10,000 notifications. I have the notification approval on for this reason and the fact that my relatives like to post the most unflattering photos ever.
Go to settings. You can add a feature that requires you to approve any tags that someone might include you in. Of course you will still get the notification that she wants to tag you, but at least it won't show up on your newsfeed.
Could you just untag yourself when you get a notification?
The FB poster will get a notification that you untag yourself, though., which is another source of hurt feelings. Signed, someone who untagged herself from some vapid pablum one time, once, out of about 10000 vapid pablum pictures my SIL posts every goddamn day and I heard about it.
Normally I would say just don't approve her tags, or like birdistheword said, immediately click the "stop receiving notifications" button.
But since these are the FB equivalent of annoying email forwards, I would absolutely ask her to stop. "Hey Nancy, I appreciate you thinking of me, but can you please stop tagging me in the inspirational photos you post every day? I'm getting dozens of notifications each day from them. Thanks!"

Oh, they will? This actually sounds like a great alternative to telling her to stop. Maybe she will get the hint. lol. I hate confrontation.
"Hey, can you please stop tagging me?" is is not confrontation. It's a polite request.
