LOL!!! That's so annoying, especially when you have a sleeping 5 y.o. I'm a huge fan of closed captions. God, I'm such an old lady. I'm both partially deaf and sensitive to noise.
The first time I saw this, I started laughing bc I couldn't hear that there was actually sound, while the people I was with said they could. I thought it was a joke on their part. Nope. Pair a hearing impairment with crappy sound, and it's no bueno.
I have hearing aids now, but this was one movie that the sound was particularly awful.

I feel like I should pour one out. Not only for your youth but your hearing too. (we need a tipped glass emoji)
That could be why it's all funky. Regardless, I wish they wouldn't make the DVDs this way, just use stereo. It makes me feel like a crotchety old woman!
And another thing that makes me crazy is when a scene is so dimly lit (for "atmosphere") that you can't tell what's going on. Cops searching a house without turning on any lights? I want to SCREAM.
DH cannot possibly hear people talking on the TV unless the volume is set to at least 24. That means that when there's any sort of loud noise the windows shake. It drives me absolutely nuts.
Batman is one of the ones I remember being bad. Also that Cloud Atlas movie. OMG I think it scarred me for life.
I don't know if its just our tv, but Mad Men is like this for me as well. Thankfully there aren't any explosions or super loud parts, but some conversations are MUCH louder than others. It drives me crazy!
That happened when we were watching ESPN3 via the xbox. We had to crank it up during the event and then the commercials would literally shake things on the mantle lol.
