Who is going to kick ass in their marathon? Actually I'm going to answer that for y'all. YOU ALL ARE. Discuss how training is going overall, despite the hiccups that many of us had with our runs this weekend. It's going pretty well, but I'm only in week 3 so the mileage is comparable to what I've been doing for the last few months.
When was the last time you did something good for yourself after a long run (treat yo self!)? Tell us what it was!I never have enough time post long run to do anything relaxing since H has been on kid duty, I would feel bad taking more time for myself. The best I can usually hope for is a yummy protein shake
What was the best thing you ate/drank last week? We went to a birthday party on Saturday, they had these yummy meatballs and of course birthday cake! (I had two slices . What are you looking foward to eating/drinking this week?More birthday food on the menu. I making DD's cake and can't wait to eat a slice with some ice cream.
Where has your greatest running achievement taken place? Tell us about it!I'm pretty damn proud of my Cherry Blossom 10-mile time 1:18:41. I ran my heart out and it felt awesome. It convinced me that Boston was in the realm of possibility.
How are you feeling to start this week? Are you ready to wipe the mental slate clean and power your way through the week? I'm ok. I'm going to be pretty busy with party prep for DD's 1st birthday party this weekend. No way I will skip runs, but I'm not really going to have any free time between now and Saturday.
AW yourself here with something running-related and non-running related. Running - I'm pretty proud of my ability to stay committed to my runs, no excuse for skipping. Non-running - we're making all of the food and party decor for DD's birthday and it's coming together pretty well, we're doing a watermelon theme. It think it's going to be a great party!
Who is going to kick ass in their marathon? Actually I'm going to answer that for y'all. YOU ALL ARE. Discuss how training is going overall, despite the hiccups that many of us had with our runs this weekend. Overall I can't complain too much. I've had a few really tough runs, but for the most part it has been solid. Not quite as fantastic as last time around (I haven't been getting in any real speed work), but solid.
When was the last time you did something good for yourself after a long run (treat yo self!)? Tell us what it was! This weekend I "treated" myself. DH and I always go out for a big breakfast after my long run. This week, I got chocolate chips in my pancakes. It was fantastic!
What was the best thing you ate/drank last week? What are you looking foward to eating/drinking this week? We had a baby shower for one of my coworkers last week and I had a piece of chocolate cake. I can't remember the last time I had cake, and it was SO GOOD!. My 7yo little sis is coming to visit this weekend (yay!) and I'm looking forward to taking her out for some Chicago must-haves: pizza and garrett's popcorn. YUMMMMM.
Where has your greatest running achievement taken place? Tell us about it! Last year when I got my BQ at the Chicago marathon. Something I never thought I would ever be able to do.
How are you feeling to start this week? Are you ready to wipe the mental slate clean and power your way through the week? To be honest, I'm a little tired this week. Last week was a cutback week for me and I had to work all weekend. Today is my day off work so I've been laying around watching trashy TV this morning. I'm going to head out for 9 miles in a few minutes. Hopefully it will make me feel a little more energized?
Why are we so hard on ourselves when we have a crappy run? I think it's because we all know we're capable of being way more awesome than one bad run. AW yourself here with something running-related and non-running related. I am absolutely guilty of being too hard on myself! A running related AW: I killed my 17 miles from 2 weeks ago. I didn't even feel too exhausted after! Non-running related AW: I got a promotion at work a few weeks ago and feel like I am doing a really good job in my new role.
Who is going to kick ass in their marathon? Actually I'm going to answer that for y'all. YOU ALL ARE. Discuss how training is going overall, despite the hiccups that many of us had with our runs this weekend. Training is going fine, I think. A little slower than when I was training for Boston, but I don't think comparing winter training vs. summer training is in any way fair. I'm blazing compared to my paces from last year at this time.
When was the last time you did something good for yourself after a long run (treat yo self!)? Tell us what it was! I usually take a few minutes for a post run pool dip and extra coffee.
What was the best thing you ate/drank last week? What are you looking forward to eating/drinking this week? We went on a Flying Dog Brewery tour last week and I had lots of good beer followed by buffalo wings and more beer. My favorite! Not sure whats on tap (nice pun there) for this week.
Where has your greatest running achievement taken place? Tell us about it! After having a tough time at Boston this year, I'd say my best race was Boston 2011 (my still PR of 3:21). I didn't fully appreciate the race I ran until the course kicked me in the ass (or calves) this year.
How are you feeling to start this week? Are you ready to wipe the mental slate clean and power your way through the week? Monday rest days always make me happy. I slept in until 7AM! I'm starting Pfitz's 12/70 this week, and the first week is "only" 55 miles. The last month I've hit 60 a couple times, so it is almost a step back. That plus nice cool temps leave me excited for training this week.
Why are we so hard on ourselves when we have a crappy run? I think it's because we all know we're capable of being way more awesome than one bad run. AW yourself here with something running-related and non-running related. Running related: I still hit my MP miles yesterday even though I was sore as shit from a strength class I took Saturday. Non Running related: I might have a part time wah gig pretty soon. Still working out the logistics.
When was the last time you did something good for yourself after a long run (treat yo self!)? Tell us what it was! I'm not sure any of my weekend runs can count as "long" yet, however, I've been "treating myself" a bit too much in the chocolate department for well, no reason at all.
What was the best thing you ate/drank last week? What are you looking foward to eating/drinking this week? Holeman and Finch burger at the Braves game. It was AMAZING (as usual). This week, I'm looking forward to getting my eating back on track, I've been like a freight train in a bad country song headed the wrong direction ....
Where has your greatest running achievement taken place? Tell us about it! Napa Valley Marathon 2014. I finished. That's all. It wasn't fast (at all) or pretty, but after 2.5 years of injuries, I finally finished a marathon, and I couldn't have been happier. (ok a weee bit of a lie, I would have been happier if it was faster, but I'm just a perfectionist like that).
How are you feeling to start this week? Are you ready to wipe the mental slate clean and power your way through the week? Ready to wipe clean. Our upstairs AC was really struggling yesterday with the 95 degree temps, so it was super hot last night, I didn't sleep well.
Why are we so hard on ourselves when we have a crappy run? I think it's because we all know we're capable of being way more awesome than one bad run. AW yourself here with something running-related and non-running related. This is a great question. I think runners in general are just a special breed that is always striving for something more.
My AW: I have REALLY enjoyed the new trails by our house lately. I ran 5+miles to the trails on Sat then a few extra on them. They are slower miles, but they are FUN miles!
Who is going to kick ass in their marathon? Actually I'm going to answer that for y'all. YOU ALL ARE. Discuss how training is going overall, despite the hiccups that many of us had with our runs this weekend. Last week was the first week in marathon training that I thought, "Oh sh!t this is a lot of miles." My long run was tricky cause my Garmin distance was way off, but I just went by the trail markers.
When was the last time you did something good for yourself after a long run (treat yo self!)? Tell us what it was! I had a yummy brunch with Grandma after my long run this week.
What was the best thing you ate/drank last week? What are you looking foward to eating/drinking this week? I was traveling for a wedding and went to my favorite burrito place in the world. sadlebred, you know what I am talking about. Next time I am visiting I want to do a GTG, but this trip was jammed packed with trying to fit marathon training in and the wedding. We are planning on going to Raskia for our anniversary.
Where has your greatest running achievement taken place? Tell us about it! My favorite running moment was probably when I won a 5k. I know it really has more to do with who (didn't) show up that day, but it was still a lot of fun to break the tape.
How are you feeling to start this week? Are you ready to wipe the mental slate clean and power your way through the week? Pretty good, trying to figure out how to fit everything in.
Why are we so hard on ourselves when we have a crappy run? I think it's because we all know we're capable of being way more awesome than one bad run. AW yourself here with something running-related and non-running related. It is super hard, but I really try to focus on the positives and enjoying being able to run. I'm running all my runs about a minute faster than my first marathon, so I think a nice PR is in the works. Non-running related, we leave for Europe next week.

Who is going to kick ass in their marathon? Actually I'm going to answer that for y'all. YOU ALL ARE. Discuss how training is going overall, despite the hiccups that many of us had with our runs this weekend. It's going well overall. I've really enjoyed doing long runs with other people. It makes the time go by much faster.
When was the last time you did something good for yourself after a long run (treat yo self!)? Tell us what it was! I've been getting cupcakes after every long run. I have no problem treating myself.
What was the best thing you ate/drank last week? What are you looking foward to eating/drinking this week? Last week: On Saturday we got pizza from our favorite pizza place, and the aforementioned post-run cupcakes. This week, I'm looking forward to having Persian food when my mom visits us.
Where has your greatest running achievement taken place? Tell us about it! I'm proud of many of my race times, but there are a few barriers I'm still trying to break. Hopefully they will happen this year.
How are you feeling to start this week? Are you ready to wipe the mental slate clean and power your way through the week? I hope so. Last week was TOUGH, not just with running, but with life in general. Work was insane, I didn't get enough sleep, and I was exhausted. I also ate like crap. I need to turn things around this week.
Why are we so hard on ourselves when we have a crappy run? I think it's because we all know we're capable of being way more awesome than one bad run. AW yourself here with something running-related and non-running related. Running AW: I hit my paces during my tempo run this morning. Non-running AW: My kid is turning 4 in less than a week!

Who is going to kick ass in their marathon? Actually I'm going to answer that for y'all. YOU ALL ARE. Discuss how training is going overall, despite the hiccups that many of us had with our runs this weekend. I did have a rough long run this weekend, but recovered really well considering how crappy I felt Saturday. I'm feeling good about training.
When was the last time you did something good for yourself after a long run (treat yo self!)? Tell us what it was! I treat myself to my favorite ice cream after my long run each week. My partner also cooks brunch when I get home, then I get to shower and lounge around in yoga pants - it's a pretty sweet deal I've got!
What was the best thing you ate/drank last week? What are you looking foward to eating/drinking this week? My partner was out of town last week, so I was on my own for most of my meals - it's a wonder that I did not eat Ice Cream for dinner every night! This week, some of the veggies in my garden are ripe enough for picking, so I'm looking forward to some new recipes using the fresh stuff from my garden!
Where has your greatest running achievement taken place? Tell us about it! I still feel the best about the Iron Girl 1/2 I did last year - it had some tough hills, but I stayed smiling the whole way. The weekend after that, I did a 10K, 5K and 1/2 - That's probably the most badass I've felt in my running history!
How are you feeling to start this week? Are you ready to wipe the mental slate clean and power your way through the week? Yep! I'm starting a new Stage in NROLW tomorrow morning, then hitting the track!
Why are we so hard on ourselves when we have a crappy run? I think it's because we all know we're capable of being way more awesome than one bad run. AW yourself here with something running-related and non-running related.
Running: Even though I have gained some weight and it has been hot, my paces are better than they have been in a while! Non-Running: I'm stepping outside my comfort zone and have applied for a supervisory job. I have talked myself out of applying for higher positions several times telling myself that I'm not qualified yet, but this time I decided to just go for it and see what happens!

Oh yum! Love some tofu burritos. I eat there at least once a week. Let's definitely do a GTG the next time you are here!

Discuss how training is going overall, despite the hiccups that many of us had with our runs this weekend. When was the last time you did something good for yourself after a long run (treat yo self!)? Tell us what it was! I am pretty spoiled because I usually grab a leisurely brunch with my friends after my long runs.
What was the best thing you ate/drank last week? What are you looking foward to eating/drinking this week? The best thing I had was a chipotle burrito followed by a vanilla chai cupcake. Can I say I love marathon training?
Where has your greatest running achievement taken place? Tell us about it! My 20 miler this past weekend! Also making it this far into my training cycle with no injuries and feeling pretty good. (Knock on wood)
How are you feeling to start this week? Are you ready to wipe the mental slate clean and power your way through the week? I feel pretty good mentally. Physically I'm feeling pretty sore, but that's to be expected.

Like mrshandy, I'm proud that I haven't skipped any workouts. I've gotten up early than I ever thought I would for a Saturday run, but I'm still going.

Who is going to kick ass in their marathon? Actually I'm going to answer that for y'all. YOU ALL ARE. Discuss how training is going overall, despite the hiccups that many of us had with our runs this weekend. My training is...going. Sort of. Mostly. I'm having some pretty worrisome leg issues but I'm doing what I can to get them worked out...even paying money for someone to abuse my muscles! So, yay training?
When was the last time you did something good for yourself after a long run (treat yo self!)? Tell us what it was! Um. I went into this weekend's 20miler with a sports massage set up for Tuesday. I was also having a rough run [bailed out at 10mi for a total of 20mi rather than 26mi] and took a nap along the trail, at the base of a waterfall to make myself feel better about life...it worked!
What was the best thing you ate/drank last week? What are you looking foward to eating/drinking this week? Last week? Rice Krispie treats! Who knew they would taste to good in the wilderness! And next week...um. Some legitimately delicious french fries!
Where has your greatest running achievement taken place? Tell us about it! Finishing the North Fork 50M -- I went in underprepared physically but so ready mentally. My body hurt, a lot. But my head was on straight and I finished with a foolish grin on my face...then took my shoes off to a blister on every toe. That was fun...
How are you feeling to start this week? Are you ready to wipe the mental slate clean and power your way through the week? Wiping the slate clean is exactly what has to happen for me -- I'm missing miles in my training and I'm dangerously close to failing miserably at 100M training. But I have to rest my body, it's just so hard to watch the days tick by!
Why are we so hard on ourselves when we have a crappy run? I think it's because we all know we're capable of being way more awesome than one bad run. AW yourself here with something running-related and non-running related. Running Related: I was smart enough to turn around at 10 miles rather than push through to unknown terrain for the final 16 miles this weekend. Non-Running Related: I was actually productive last night, even though the pillow was desperately calling my name! If I can't run I might as well clean the apartment, right?!
