I feel like I'm always googling stuff like, "when do babies get their first teeth", and "at what age does a baby typically start crawling". I have no clue about what is coming down the pike except for what I pick up on these boards.
What is a good book that lays out some of the developmental milestones and what I can expect in the first year?
Your Baby's First Year Week by Week. We called it The Oracle. It was very non-judgmental and emphasized that each child develops at their own pace, while giving some general milestones. It also suggested age-appropriate activities for each week.
I like the Mayo Clinic Guide your Baby's First Year. It doubles as a reference for what to do for common baby illnesses: colds, ear infections, stomach bugs, etc. It's very non-panicky and non-judgemental.
I really like "what to expect the first year." It's the follow up to "what to expect when you're expecting." I thought both books gave clear, unbiased answers for questions just like those.
Third for Mayo Clinic! It has tons of great info, plus a chapter for each month that explains milestones, suggests games, and includes lots in development.
