Sorry, I'm not buying the whole 2-slice bit. There's no way multiple people would be on board with that. I can't even imagine having that conversation with my coworkers:
"Who wants to get lunch on Wednesday? I was thinking pizza. How many slices approximately will everyone have?"
Yeah, no. Whenever we get lunch at my work, it's never a perfectly orchestrated, exact science down to how much each individual will eat. Unless you're part of a dieter's club?
So, in conclusion, OP *should* feel bad, but not about non-responding coworker. She should feel bad because now everyone else is scrounging around in their desk drawers for something else to eat.

We used to do it in my old office all the time. Every one wanted one or two slices so we'd buy pizza so everyone had 2 slices each. Large had 8 slices, XL was cut into 10 and we'd figure it out from there. Made for a cheap lunch and if you didn't want to participate you'd opt out and, er, not show up at the pizza table like you paid.
The way I eat pizza at home is different and more like binge eating.

This is just bonkers. Do I live in a particularly pizza-hossing locale, that one or two slices (ONE SLICE?!?) seems impossible to even comprehend?
I've never eaten more than 2 slices at a work "luncheon." I try to show restraint, plus I'm not usually that hungry at lunch. At home, it's not a pizza dinner if I haven't housed half a large.
That said, the dudes at work aren't shy and there's no way that they'd be satisfied with the allotted 2.
i'm not buying this "exactly two slices, no more, no less was the perfect quantity for each participant" line. I didn't see the pizza. Perhaps those are large, NYC corner pizza joint slices. Perhaps they were round table sized skinnies. Who cares. Appetites differ. Either some people are left hungry by two or there are leftovers.
