I lost my last pup to immune mediated hemolytic anemia a few years ago. But he was 12 and in already declining health, so a different situation. Nor did he receive a transfusion.
But I've got my fingers crossed for you that he bounces back from it - it is possible. (I did a lot of reading on IMHA after my boy passed because I'd never even heard of it before him.)
I'm so sorry, mofongo. My family's dog had hemolytic anemia. He fought for a while (and had several transfusions plus was on massive meds for months), but those quick downhills after periods of stability were so painful. Unfortunately, our pup didn't make it. I'll be thinking of you.

Sorry. How old was he?
He was only 4 years old. It was pretty devastating for my family.
