I don't want to give all the secrets away to the birthday girls... We are celebrating big this fall. Niece E is turning 35, Niece J is turning 25 and Great Niece T is turning Sweet 16. Mr. Pom and I will also be celebrating our 10th anniversary right smack in the middle of all these dates. Most of these dates are in September. BUT, we all have a very busy September, so it was decided we should all get together and family celebrate on one weekend. There was an October festival weekend that was agreed upon. We have chosen a location for more of a group weekend get away instead of hotel rooms that is 3 hours away for us, 1 hour for sister and niece J and her BF, 4 hours away for niece E, fiance and great niece. I also asked my mom but not sure if she will come since it requires a flight.
Friday: we all drive to lake house (Mr. Pom and I rented). House has hot tub, on the lake for fishing, fire pit, billiard table, sleeps 10 very comfortably. Big 10 top table for dinners. 3 baths (lots of ladies). Mr. P and I will bring fab birthday cake (s). I will bring decorations. We will probably get pizza from a local awesome place on Friday night Mr. P and I've been to before. Friday night: Pizza, Cake, Play Apples to Apples, enjoy house.
Saturday: Saturday morning sleep-in. 11am: Go to a local place I found through trip advisor and Yelp, call for a reservation. Bistro/Wine Bar brunch kind of place. Looks like many options on the menu for everyone. So opinions on options for Saturday afternoon.... 1. Everyone go shop or mess around on their own. Some cute stores/antiques locally. Everyone will have own cars. 2. Rent pontoon boat. I assume water levels are higher there than in our area. 3. Cocktail Cruise on Paddle wheeler. It did not get great reviews on Yelp but this would be another group thing. OPTION 2 or 3 could be a surprise.
Saturday Evening: Opinions on- Cook at home Taco or Chili Bar, Italian Dinner, Steaks. S'mores, Firepit, more games....etc... Thinking about a pinata like hamster got.
Sunday: Light breakfast, pack-up. Drive 45 minutes to festival. Spend late morning/early afternoon there. Everyone heads home from festival town.
Any other thoughts or suggestions? Opinions on what you'd prefer.
I don't know what type of relationship you have with your family, but if you could handle it I'd throw Cards Against Humanity into the mix with Apples & Apples. I think CAH is about 1 million times better, but I've got a very depraved sense of humor so...
If you feel confident the weather would be good, I'd probably vote rent a pontoon boat for Saturday. It sounds fun and you guys can control your schedule.
I will check out CAH. Niece 2 got us all playing A2A at Christmas, maybe she just hasn't told us about CAH yet. LOL. We are all sick and twisted, so no issues there
Yeah, I am kind of concerned about the weather...but I will call and ask about weather cxl policy. Mr. P is all about the boating, I was curious if it's TOO much scheduled you know?
I'd probably let people spend Saturday afternoon as they see fit, but mention that there are pontoon boats, cruises, etc. as options. I should note that I can get crabby without enough "me" time...and I have control issues particularly when it comes to traveling. That said, this sounds like a great weekend!
My pinata is in two weeks. I'll let you know how it goes. It's got 15 mini bottles, so it can't be all bad.

I truly don't want to over schedule everyone. As a rule, they all like to be busy though. Mostly, I hate over scheduling myself and great niece. We are lounge lizards
So have you kept Mr. Hamster's party a surprise? I bet the pinata will be a major hit. Can I ask where you ordered it?

So far so good! I sent out a FB invite after our last party to reduce the bean spillage, and ordered the party games so that they would arrive on a day he was out of town and sent them home with my friend/accomplice.
The weak link is my MIL, who will take Wyatt for the day/night. She wrote it down on her calendar that's in plain sight. She has since whited it out, but there's a post it note in her bedroom mirror with their reminder.
Other than that I'm waiting in on RSVPs. I'll have to run errands and do food prep on Thursday, since he doesn't work Friday, so I may end up taking that day off in secret.
Bwahahaha.
Pinata was from amazon by the way. It's HUGE. Just search for a toucan pinata.
