If you can look past the navy hoodie, bear suit, and teal car seat, there is a little girl sleeping in there.
Most strangers guess boy. A hair bow is mandatory when we go out but sometimes people don't notice it and only see the teal car seat and assume boy. Uppababy needs to introduce some girl colors for their car seats - the only come in teal, orange, black and cream.
I'm a nursery nurse and I think the majority of them look the same. Sometimes there is a baby you can tell for sure but most of the time not. We put bows in the girls' hair/head to help when we have time, especially if they look boyish
I think my DD looked like a boy. The GN clothes when she was first born probably didn't help.

Squeeeeee! I just want to squish her up - super cute!

A (guy) friend of mine, who didn't find out the sex of the baby ahead of time, recalling seeing the baby's head come out said, "As soon as I saw his face, I thought, 'I sure hope it's a boy, because otherwise it's going to be one really ugly girl.'" Yes, it was a boy... I've got a feeling he wouldn't tell that story otherwise.

That's my non-information for you.
When my brother was born, the doctor pulled out his head and said or has to be a girl because she's too pretty to be a boy. So my mom thought for a minute she was having a girl when he definitely had a penis.
I think so. I remember my girls getting confused for boys, even when they were wearing pink.
Now, at 11 months, DS looks SO much like DD1, especially when he smiles just like she did as a baby. The only difference is their hair color, but otherwise, I could dress him in one of her old outfits and be brought right back. I really need to do a side-by-side comparison.
Babies look like babies. I have dressed dd in light blue or navy blue as I like the colors and will get "adorable little man you have there" and "what a prince!". I never correct and never take offence - I can never tell unless they're in gender specific clothes.
When I see babies I'll usually say "such a cute baby" or something just to be safe
So many people tell me what a pretty girl, then I respond with HE is pretty cute or something like that. It happens a lot if he's in gender neutral clothes.
Dd gets mistaken for a boy all the time. I think she is girly but she lacks hair. Also it seems to happen more when she is in the ergo. Usually they ask what his name is and I say she is a little girl named r. I also dress her in blue and gender neutral gap that is really boy clothes.
Funny timing, I asked this while on vacation with family a month ago and they said they could tell the difference. They said DS clearly looks like a boy. Then I showed them a few pictures and they got it right about half the time. Then we found a quiz online and we again got it right about half the time. Now I kind of want to put a headband on him and take a picture and see if he looks like a girl.
This is kind of morbid, but these questions always make me think of 'Bones', and how Dr. Brennan would immediately be able to tell boy or girl just by looking at a baby's skull.
I do think though you can tell the difference between a boy and a girl when they are just in their diaper in the chest area. At least I could between DS and DD.
My kid is 16 months and everyone who doesn't 'know' him always assumes he's a girl. He looks exactly like me as a kid, which freaks my mom out (in a good way), she always says she never thought she'd get to "see" me as a baby again.

When DD and DS1 were newborns, I definitely thought DS1 had very boyish features and DD had very feminine features. What do you think?
However, now that I look at pictures of them from when they were born, I very occassionally have trouble telling who is who if they aren't wearing gender-specific clothing, which makes me think most girls and boys look very similar.

My mom says the same exact thing! She even thinks his laugh is the same (lol, grandmas!)
My mom was seriously drilling me on Monday: he used to look like your husband. when did he start looking exactly like you? when?
Hold on mom. Let me look in my phone for the exact date my kid started looking different. I didn't know there would be a test today.
But my kid's looks have changed a lot. He looks nothing like how he was as a newborn, 3 month old or even 6 month old. It's weird. Maybe he'll look like the dog next.
As a newborn, I don't think you could tell but DS at 7 months has much more of a square jaw and less neck than DD did at the same age. Maybe my DS is just going to be very masculine looking when he grows up?
I think boys are bigger even before toddlerhood. I was comparing growth charts after one of DS's early pedi appointments (either 2 or 4mo) and he weighed more than DD did at the same visit, yet he was in a lower percentile.

Forget newborns, here is my 10-month-old DAUGHTER today. She's home with DH all month so he said he's going to dress her exclusively in Giants and Rangers onesies. Even without the sports clothes, I do think everyone who says she looks 100% like a girl is fibbing.

I think she has a feminine face, but I don't know if I would confidently have guessed the right sex if I hadn't known.
I do think the lack of hair is what confuses people unless she's wearing a dress.
