The girls keep waffling on what they want to be. They really want to be Elsa and Anna and dress their brother as Olaf but I've already warned them that it may be hard/impossible to get the costumes. Their backup plan, which I would greatly prefer, is Dorothy, Glinda and a munchkin. I'm curious what will happen the year Emma rebels and doesn't want to do a theme with her sister because so far Julia has always dictated the theme and Emma has been excited to play along. I suspect Drew may rebel first and break his sisters hearts, but I'll be on his side...
I'm guessing this is my last year where I can get BabyLiu to be something that the rest of us can play along with. Thank god she loves Robin. My only worry is she will throw a fit when she sees I'm Raven and not Starfire. Starfire's outfit is too cold!
Julia will be 7 (!?!?!?!) next month and still wants us to all match as a family. So you may have a few good years yet! DH and I haven't dressed up up to this point (other than me wearing a red riding hood cape I made many moons ago and a dress from my years at the historic site) because money was tight, but this year it may be on!

DS1 wants to be a brachiosaurus. I bought pool noodles to use as neck structure, but I'm at a loss for the rest. I have rudimentary sewing skillz and a sewing machine. Help!

Painted box for the head, face and teeth on the end of the noodle. Green hoodie with a tail attached. Green pants.
ETA: IDK if that's too DIY and you want something classier, though.
ETA 2: OH! Green footie PJs if they still come in his size!

I am thinking sweatpants and sweatshirt. DH carved him a styrofoam car when he wanted to be Lightning McQueen 2 years ago. Maybe we could do that for the head and I could sew a sleeve for the neck.

Skills!
It's pretty fantastic. So fantastic that it is sitting in the basement taking up space because "we" can't throw it away. Maybe DS2 will want to use it next year. It's kind of heavy, but it got a lot of attention when we were TOT. It rained at daycare so they cancelled the parade, but when they saw it, they put on a mini parade so DS could walk.
The only reason I'm already thinking about Halloween is because I have to start gathering the materials for their costumes (Olaf and Elsa, of course). I buy things from Joann when I have coupons, so it takes a while to gather it all together. Last year, Abby was a Dalek and Caleb was TARDIS. Her costume took weeks to get all the materials for, but I saved a ton of money that way.

I had thought we'd be moving in October, and I wasn't going to take my tried and true jellyfish costumes with me. I've already promptness them to another family.
Now I don't know what to do. I love dressing up!
Your jellyfish was awesome. How will you top this?
I put in a lot of effort for that BC a) we were doing the Waikiki thing and b) my friend was here after 10 months of deployment. It's not worth the effort for just hanging in my neighborhood.
But it was awesome At least I got 2 years out of it.
Thanks! It didn't come out quite like I wanted, but it was the best I could do. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the costumes that doesn't involved just trashing them.

That's the tough part, right? I still have BabyLiu's Daphne costume because it's the most complicated thing I've ever sewn and I'm kinda proud of it. But that was two years ago. Ain't no one fit that!

I'm tempted to try to sell it on Craigslist. It's not stellar construction, but there might be someone who would be interested.

For her first halloween she was a suffragette. She was 10 months. It was awesome!
Last year at 22 months I planned on her being superman (well the girl version). FAIL! She wouldn't wear it. Insisted on being a "ballerina" and wearing a random dress.
This year I'm just going to avoid the drama altogether and let her be whatever the hell she wants (she's a strong willed one that daughter of mine). She will want to be Elsa. There is nobody else but Elsa.
Dashed! Dashed are my dreams of some sort of cool, ironic, silly, socially aware, or funny costume for her. No no no. It must be something princessy. Blech. I agree with whoever said above that at least Elsa is Queen and doesn't need a man.

Maybe a dance store? The ine where I went for DD's leotards and tap shoes had all sorts of good stuff

Embrace elsa. Dd is 4 and has moved onto barbie for the most part. Never thought I'd be nostalgic about the disney princess days

You could use chicken wire to construct the body and then cover it with fabric. Duct tape can help shape it and attach the other pieces.
