eta-- also, I have heard of Christmas Tree Shops but have never been to one. The fact that they DON'T sell Christmas decorations year-round is kind of blowing my mind.
In my parents' town, BJ's is directly next door to Dick's. I bet the person who planned that shopping center is having a good laugh. Or maybe I'm the only one with the mind of a 12-year old boy.
Not a store, but Not Your Daughter's Jeans was such a bad brand name. I'm 33. I'm not even going to try them on.
Now they go by "NYDJ". Nope. You can't fool me! I have very little dignity left. I already shop at Talbot's almost exclusively. I'm not going to by jeans aimed at the menopausal crowd too:(
I always thought that the Door Store was an odd name, being that they sell furniture rather than doors.
A Philly-based Chinese restaurant opened in NY a few months ago. I sent a link to my husband and a friend suggesting that we check it out: handynasty.com
They were both like "What the hell kind of restaurant is Handy Nasty?"
(It is actually Han Dynasty)
There used to be a bar right by our apartment called Ramrod, but that was definitely intentional.
I used to live in CO. There's a ski area called Beaver Creek and they play up the Beaver aspect quite a bit in their store titles. Beaver Liquors is my favorite

Haha. Texas beavers sue everyone else who even uses their colors here. Beaver Liquors better watch out! LOL.
Hot Mama which does not sell maternity clothes. And even weirder, they are changing their name to Evereve (WTF?) after about a decade in business with the previous name.
When they opened a Christmas Tree Shop by my parents, my mom went and got annoyed because she walked around the entire store and couldn't find any Christmas trees. I had to break it to her that they don't actually sell Christmas trees, lol.
ETA: There's a funeral parlor in the area I grew up called Amigone.
We are from the same area! That's actually the family's last name (my mom went to high school with a kid whose last name was Amigone and was indeed a member of the family) so I guess its fitting that they went into mortuary science...
Also, someone submitted an Amigone ad to Jay Leno once to do during his newspaper headline segment.

I have recommended Hot Mama to several people with the caveat that it has the worst name ever but the clothes are actually cute. So a name change is warranted.
There's some store in New England called Christmas Tree Shops. They don't sell Christmas stuff year round as I thought they did.
Google tells me they sell affordable furniture, home decor, and kitchen essentials.
When I moved to New England from the mid-Atlantic, I didn't go into a Christmas Tree Shops store for the first three years because I also assumed that it sold Christmas items. Eventually I found out that it is not that at all and I was sad to have missed out on it for so long! LOL

So true!!! This is such an awesome non -maternity store. Took me a year to learn this. Glad they are changing the name. I was there today :-)

Groupo Do It Center. I actually have no idea what it was, but we passed it a few times in Costa Rica.
See siggy
I can't see the picture very well, but I think it says Ace underneath. Based on the coloring of the sign, I think it's a hardware store. Do It Best is a chain of co-op hardware stores, and so is Ace Hardware. Do It Best does have locations in that area of the world.
