The only part Natalie really likes besides Let It Go, is the beginning when the men are hitting the ice with their picks. She has to imitiate them and hit the floor every time.
I feel like there are so many psychological layers to it so much more than any other Disney movie.
Elaborate!
1. The older/younger sibling connection. Elsa has all the responsibility and feels weighted down because of it. Anna is carefree and has no worries because she doesn't feel the same sense of responsibility
2. They've both been messed up by their parents' decisions and the loss, but they've responded differently. Elsa feels like she can't love anyone because she has this responsibility, whereas Anna will jump to the first person who pays attention to her
3. The entire song "Let it go." She starts off so emotionally oppressed, and it's clear in the words, the music and the animation. As it goes on, she realizes she can accept herself for who she is and then moves on to not just accepting, but embracing it ("it's time to see what I can do"). I love the phrase "My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around." The composers' word choice is impressive.
The animation of her body language mimics the meaning of the song. She starts off constricted and closed and then gradually opens up until the final shot, where she's happy, confident and wide open. The joy and power is palpable.
And then there's the fact that it's such a feminist movie that thumbs its nose at all the other Disney movies.
Me too! It took me a while to really even watch the whole thing. Not because I didn't want to but because Lillian wouldn't always be interested so I would miss stuff.
We have the soundtrack that we listen to in the car. Let it go is always.on. And Lillian likes to Demi Lovato version better. She asks for the "other one" and said it was Sofia singing not Elsa lol.
Also, Frozen is not called Frozen around here, it's referred to as Elsa.

We watch it more for Abby, although Caleb loves the songs, so occasionally if I'm on the laptop he'll ask to watch "Let it Go" or "Snowman" over and over.
I like it way more than Emerson. I keep trying to get her to watch it and I've had very little success. She's all about Brave, which surprises me. I thought it would scare her in parts.

I like Frozen but I feel like it had potential to be better if they had filled in some of the details. It is missing so much exposition.
Why is Elsa magical? How does magic fit in in their society? Who are the trolls? What's their purpose? Why is Kristoff all alone as a kid? What are the parents' motivation in all this? Putting the kingdom ahead of their kid I guess? I don't know!
I think the movie relies too much on the animation style and the music to carry the movie and they forgot to develop the conflict more. Just seems flat. But I do love the animation and music--could have been better with more depth to the story.
I do love how it is a sister movie and their love is the key. I just think they could have done better filling in the story.
I love frozen, we watch it a lot and i still haven't gotten sick of it. Every time Macy slams a door in the house I go please don't shut me out again....please don't slam the door. You don't have to keep your distance anymore!

Elsa is way bitchier than she has to be. She takes on the responsibility bc her parents conditioned her to hide everything. And Anna falls for the first guy she's around. Twice.
