What's your SO deal [now] , in as few words as possible?
Divorced 3 years (in October), dating BF for almost a year and a half.
What's the best thing you've focused on for yourself, post-separation or divorce? I took six months and was totally celibate, like, no masturbation either. I thought at times during the experiment that I might be legit insane, but I also knew I was making far too many decisions with my vagina and I needed to make better choices.
What are you currently looking forward to?
In life? Um...my kid going back to school. Chromeo. Kishi Bashi. My brother's wedding.
Favorite TV show, since we're all streaming something.
@midnight, or OITNB
Favorite drink
wine, rum and coke, anything with tequila, coffee, and strawberry milk because I'm 34
Have you met gbcners? Would you want to? Where (about) are you?
Yes! I have LOVED everyone I've met in person. I'm in NKY, but Cinti every weekend.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
What's your SO deal [now] , in as few words as possible? Divorced. I left after years of being neglected. I walked away from my house, my dog and my extended family in order to take back my freedom and control of my life. I'm still grieving the loss of another complex relationship with the one I should have married instead of XH and trying to get over my past mistakes. Surviving.
moonlight your story sounds like mine. Keep believing in happy endings they are out there.

Separated, filing papers soon, dipping my toes back into the dating world
doing the things I want to do that enrich me !!! and not having to justify them ... we're talking about things like attending book club and working out at the gym !
Masterchef for now .. usually its Bones .. I love me some Seely Booth !
Wine
Haven't met any GBCNers .. I'm in the SF/Bay Area (east bay)
1. Started dating at 15. Married at 24. Divorced at 29. Now 30. Trying to figure out life.....not going all that great.
2. I still have not focused on myself enough or much at all and need to do it. As I've been told in a post or 2 that I've made. I have started therapy, but stopped seeing the person I'd seen for the last couple months. Trying to schedule with someone I saw last year. I think she's a better fit.
3. I'm looking forward to moving on. Trying to be ok with myself. Building self esteem and seeing what the world is like single. I'm also looking forward to a trip with my BFF to either Vegas or Mexico in October or November.
4. Criminal Minds. I loooove it. I watch all the marathons and reruns even though I've seen them all. Haven't really picked up anything new.
5. Vodka and lemonade
6. I have not met anyone from the boards, but I am also a fairly new poster (though I've lurked for years...sad but true). I would love to meet some gbcners. I live in Nebraska.
What's your SO deal [now] , in as few words as possible? Separated since October 2013, waiting on divorce to be final, but my abusive ex is contesting it and dragging it out. He currently does not get any visitation and I'm perfectly happy with that.
What's the best thing you've focused on for yourself, post-separation or divorce? Definitely my kid, getting back into shape, and doing things that I wasn't "allowed" to do when I was with my ex.
What are you currently looking forward to? I booked a trip to Denver next month
Favorite TV show, since we're all streaming something. Walking Dead
Favorite drink: Beer, wine, pomegranate martinis, margaritas, pretty much all the booze.
Have you met gbcners? Would you want to? Where (about) are you? Not from SO, but I'll be meeting some MLers next month. I've "known" these girls for years though. I'm in the Southeast.
What are you currently looking forward to? Going to Mexico for a Destination wedding in February!
Favorite TV show, since we're all streaming something. Umm, I don't know. I like OITNB and Once Upon a Time. I only really watch Netflix. Oh, wait, I also really like the MTV series Awkward, even though it is for teenagers.
Favorite drink? Depends on my mood. Girls night? Shots of Fireball. Date night? Glass of Pinot Noir. Taking a bath? Glass of Riesling. Sporting events? A wheat beer. Bar night with a mixed group? Something stupid and girly that bartenders hate making (Hey, I was one and I tip well, so, SORRY! but I like fruity weak shit.)
Have you met gbcners? Yes. I met winecat when I visited Colorado. She is super sweet and tall. I met mp when I went to San Diego for my brother's wedding to the psycho. She met my whole family. She is even more adorable in person. I wish I could have spent more time with her.
Would you want to? I want to meet SOOOOO many! Especially those of us who still act like college kids with no responsibilities. I WILL meet riverpestie sometime when I am in Austin for more than 36 hours.
Where (about) are you? I live in Oklahoma, the Sooner state. As in, the sooner you get the fuck out of here, the better. I am a big OU fan, though. Can't help it. I went there for 8 years and there is something about the spirit of the fans that you just get caught up in.
What's your SO deal [now] , in as few words as possible? Divorced for a number of years, dating bf of over 5 months
What's the best thing you've focused on for yourself, post-separation or divorce? Live my life according to my standards and beliefs, not someone else's. Appreciate the little things in life. Do what I love. Be gentle with myself but also kick myself in the ass to grow and change and challenge myself.
What are you currently looking forward to? Trip to Seattle in October for vacation and a dear cousin's wedding. Seeing friends on Friday and watching football. Eating peaches tonight.
Favorite TV show, since we're all streaming something. Oh God, don't make me choose. Currently it's GoT but I love Parks and Rec, Mindy Project, Big Bang, Mad Men

What's the best thing you've focused on for yourself, post-separation or divorce? Getting healthy. I've lost 16 lbs so far.
What are you currently looking forward to? A singles cruise in February!!!
Favorite TV show, since we're all streaming something. Homeland, followed by Masters of Sex.
Favorite drink I've been getting into craft beers lately.
Have you met gbcners? Would you want to? Where (about) are you? I've met quite a few and some are good friends. Yes, I'm always up for meeting more people. I'm in Atlanta.
Today is the 1 year anniversary of my divorce being finalized! We were separated 6 months before that. I have been dating someone about 9 months now and he just officially moved in with me.
The best thing I have focused on is reprioritizing what is important to me financially. Money and spending was a huge issue in my marriage. Turns out I am happier spending money on travel and experiences and don't need as much stuff and trappings of a middle class 30 something (I rent a small house instead of owning something larger, for example).
I am looking forward to a trip to Washington DC tomorrow! Just realized that's the last big thing planned right now so I need to figure out the next thing to look forward to!
I am not watching any great shows right now.... sherlock is good but I am not totally sucked in like some shows in the past.
I have met a few GBCNers and would love to meet more!
Favorite TV show, since we're all streaming something. One of my most favorite shows ever is Arrested Development. I also love the British comedy Peep Show (on Hulu). It's dark comedy, but I love it.
Peep Show is awesome, I love it too. "Face it, Mark, you're a social freak."
What's your SO deal [now] , in as few words as possible?
Officially divorced 2 months (separated almost 1.5 years) & dating a cute EMT
What's the best thing you've focused on for yourself, post-separation or divorce?
Learning to voice my expectations and not worry about whether they are "reasonable." XH skewed my perception of reason so badly.
Also, reviving friendships I had neglected in favor of keeping the peace with XH. If he didn't like my friend, I would never hear the end of wanting to spend time with her.
What are you currently looking forward to?
BF's bday next month - big group camping trip to Pismo Beach!
Favorite TV show, since we're all streaming something.
Archer, always. Currently airing new episodes - The Strain. Netflix - Trailer Park Boys.
Favorite drink
Depends on my mood. Either Captain & Diet or Limearita w/pomegranate.
Have you met gbcners? Would you want to? Where (about) are you?
1. Separated almost 2 years, but was living abroad so didn't file divorce papers until recently. The divorce should be final over the next few months. In the meantime I met someone and we've been dating for a little over a year. It's been long distance (different continents) for the past 4 months.
2. Nothing in particular, but it was liberating to just be able to focus on my own needs and wants once we separated.
Okay I've been busy all weekend till today with getting my brother moved in. So here is mine.
Stbx kicked me out March 1st. I filed my petition the first week if May. He's been a dick about the divorce. Thinks I deserve absolutely nothing. He cheated on me more than once. He abused me mentally and a little physically. I've been en therapy since April every week. He spiraled my depression out of control.
I've been refinishing various pieces of furniture to keep busy. I'm not working and had to relocate back to my parent's place. Lots of adjustments. Trying to rekindle old friendships. Hopefully I will get the courage to talk with my no longer BFF. I don't know what happened but are relationship had been non-existing for awhile now. It makes me sad. More than my divorce. She doesn't even know n
Making strides on getting my teacher license in a state I actually live in. Getting some subbing jobs and volunteering in classrooms. Meeting up with an old friend to see a concert too.
Mad About You is my favorite. Everyone watched friends when it was on. But MAY is my favorite. I like watching British shows. Someone make a thread for TV and I could write pages on my TV watching. Haha
Thankfully I am now able to drink Mojitos. That is the only thing i can stand.
I've met a total of 7 GBCN's. I was living in the Second City. But relocated back to my hometown 2.5 hours north.
