This is probably flameful, but 18 months? It started with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He would stare at the tv, silently watching and he would wail if you turned it off. Then it moved to Pocoyo then Peppa Pig and now at 3 years old he's in a Thomas phase.
He likes Yo Gabba Gabba ... he likes the songs and the weird characters dancing. I don't get it either, but if it'll keep him busy while I get lunch ready, then I give no fucks about it! Have at it!
This is flameful, the only thing that calms my 4.5 month old son down in the car is Daniel Tiger. I have the pbs app and I've tried playing other videos and he just keeps on with his crying fit, as soon as the DT intro starts he's silent.
DD is obsessed with Yo Gabba Gabba. Check out the live show on You Tube. It's crazy.
She's only just started asking for specific shows - if we guess wrong what she's asking for (I think "ya ya" is YGG), she flips until we change it. Right now there are only 3 shows on rotation - YGG, Mickey Mouse clubhouse and Clifford - so that makes it easier.
Her tummy time in the mornings as a 3mo was when i was finishing up watching ESPN. She was obsessed with basketball.
Real TV, directed towards her? She started watching Sesame Street around then. She's been very streaky with her preferred shows. We've been through a Sesame Street phase, then Caillou (God help me), then Pajanimals, a few Disney shows, Sarah and Duck (adore!), and right now it's Bubble Guppies.
BTW, she is paying attention to the commercials/trailers too. There are Bubble Guppies bits that claim the show gets kids ready for school by teaching them numbers, shapes, etc. She announced that Caillou is now a baby show in her opinion, because it doesn't prepare her for school. Yay!
He's always had varying degrees of interest in different shows but only recently has started asking for specific ones. He roars at the TV when he wants Daniel Tiger.
I sort of love YGG for just unapologetically being crazy shit for toddlers.
Around 2 it was all chuggington. Then Little Einsteins (which unfortunately was discontinued, no toys for it). Now at 3.5 it's Octonauts, Dinosaur train, and Walking with Dinosaurs.
At 2 he definitely had a preference but now at 3 he says I don't want to watch this I want this, he will even start explaining which episode he wants to watch.
My 15 month old gets one show a day (unless it's a terrible day, then she may get more. Judge away!). The ones she watches beginning to end are: MMCH, Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins, Super Why, Curious George, Daniel Tiger. She just walks away from everything else.
The only sure fired way to calm B down is playing Hakuna Matata on you tube. I Just Can't Wait to be King will do in a pinch. She doesn't care for any other songs/videos though.
She does like to watch Bloomberg with my H in the mornings though. And she appreciated college football when she was tiny.

Definitely by 16 months or so? He loved Clifford but would ignore other things if we tried them, like Dinosaur Train or Sesame Street. Although the only reason he initially got attached to Clifford is because he'd wake up so early and I'd collapse on the couch next to him and turn on PBS, and Clifford is on at 6.
His preferences have changed over time but his favorites right now are Clifford, Curious George, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
One day I was feeding her a bottle around 6 or 7 weeks old. She turned her head toward the TV and kept staring until I turned her away. Doc McStuffins was on. I was surprised that a baby so little knew to turn her head and look right at the TV.
Now at almost 8 months, I keep the TV on sometimes while she is playing on the ground. I do it with the hope that something will catch her attention and she'll stare at it and that will keep her from rolling over to the wires that I have not baby proofed yet. Nope. I got nothing right now.
STRONG preference for Cars, specifically Mater's Tall Tales on netflix. Then we started suggesting others to vary it because DH and I both had it memorized.
Now he asks for Caillou, Berenstain Bears, Elmo, Jake, Daniel Tiger or Cars/Mater's Tall Tales.
We only offer Daniel Tiger, Sesame Street and Dinosaur Train right now. It's rare she'll sit through and entire episode of DT and will not watch more than 10 mins of the other two (except one rare time she did 45 mins of SS. Awesome!) So yeah, preference for DT and has been that way since she started tv around 10 months.

DD1 has always had preferences but they do change. DD2 is 9 months and 100% will watch Mickey and dance. If we put something else on, she will crawl away. Well now she likes Daniel Tiger as well because they watch it when they eat breakfast in the mornings.
DD1's current favorites are Daniel Tiger, Care bears and Henry Hugglemonster. Henry just replaced Bubble Guppies (THANK GOD!). Elmo's World was a favorite a long time along with Bubble Guppies.
DD watches Sesame Street until it's a non-Elmo part. Then she loses interest.
Is there an Elmo-only version?
My dd only watches Shows on H's tablet. She'll pick it up, point to the screen and ask "Elmo? Elmo?" Or "choo choos" (Thomas the train).
She's never seen Yo Gabba Gabba or Daniel Tiger. I... Don't really even know what those are? We mostly have the TV off because I hate unnecessary noise .
My DD is 14 months and I'm asking this. If this is flameful, we're both going down moopoint17. lol
I am right there with you girls. I don't know how people wait until 2. There are times I just needed a break, or take a shower, and it was easier to turn on the tv.

Hmm DD is 17 months and I can not get her to watch tv! darn, when will they watch?? (flameful right?)
On sat mornings we watch cartoons, usually Do mcstuffins and sofia the first, jake and the neverland pirates.. DD pays attention for maybe 5 secs tops?
Her current favorite thing to watch is a Captain Morgan commercial that plays this song that goes, Uh OHHHH she sings it and dances to it everytime. it comes on everynight on ESPN at 5:45, so DH makes sure to have it on. haha

People of kids under 18 months hermione, does C atcutally sit and watch it or is she up and playing while its on? DD would never sit still to watch a show, she will play and glance at it every once in a while
