Jeep JK capacity is 5 qts I believe, full synthetic, plus disposal, plus labor and materials. $90 sounds right for a dealership.
I do my own car maintenance for many reasons, this is one of them.
You're a jeeper? Aren't you also in the DC area? Are you in any Jeep groups? DH was pretty heavily involved in two of them and even though we moved he still keeps in touch.
DH does our oil changes, I think he usually gets a coupon and gets synthetic oil and a filter for like $40? I don't know, I'm not involved.
Used to be a jeeper, FIL is a master-tech for Jeep, but we do all of our own maintenance. Yup I'm in Fauquier, we used to be in a few Jeep groups but the only good groups we found were south of us :/ My oil changes on my Patriot are $45 and fi's on his STi are $55 both with pars discounts.
I once brought my car to Sears and they didn't even change the oil or the filter. Simply made me wait around for an hour or so and then parked my car in the parking lot. A month later, my dad looked under the hood and sure enough, the oil was dirty and the filter from the prior year was still there. My dad writes the date on the oil filters so he can keep track of when they need a change. They charged me for that oil change and a new filter and they didn't do shit with my car besides re-park it.
Crazy! DH just watched some documentary on Jiffy Lube where 8/10 of the ones this guy visited did the exact same thing...NO work was done and they charged him for it. Makes me sick b/c I always go to the Jiffy Lube down the street b/c it's so convenient. No more. I'm taking it to our family friend that owns a mechanic shop. He's farther away but COME ON. Ludacris.
If they also changed her differential fluid out it could account for the additional cost.
It could, but $90 for a Jeep JK oil change is completely reasonable. Diff fluid change on a Jeep JK is going to be billed around $150-$200 depending on the disposal fees.
