Are there any creams or lotions worth trying to help prevent stretch marks? I am very prone to them. I can feel them starting. My boobs are killing me and are really itchy from stretching. I know they say there are things that can help, but I don't know how realistic that is. So, does anyone have something that worked for them?
Stretch marks are caused by your lowest layers of skin breaking apart and healing back together as fast as they can. There isn't a lotion that can reach down low enough or make those layers of skin elastic enough to not tear apart.

I got a lot on my hips and thighs when I went through puberty and totally thought I was doomed during pregnancy, but shockingly didn't get a single one. I wasn't even vigilant about lotioning up because I already thought I was effed. So, there's hope!

I used cocoa butter every night with Ds1 and got like 1 stretch mark. I wasn't so good about it with ds2 and got a bunch but he was also 1.5 lbs bigger than ds1
I've lost count with this pregnancy. I'm sad. It's the number 2 that's going to wreck my body.
I was just going to say the best prevention is quit while you're ahead! I had none with DD, but got some with DS, AND getting more as my belly shrinks back down.
To put a positive spin on it, if anyone needs to scare their kid away from getting a belly button piercing in the future, I'll send you some very scary pics....

Whaaat?? Explain this? I thought I would be safe in just a few more weeks

I don't even know!! Maybe they were already there, but very light, and I'm just noticing them more now?
I found some old cellulite cream in my cupboard and have been rubbing that on my belly to see if it firms anything up.

My understanding is that it's genetic...if you're gonna get them, you're gonna get them. You can *possibly* minimize the damage, and make your skin feel better/less itchy, with creams and lotions, but nothing you do is going to prevent them.

Haha, I agree with that! I don't have many stretch marks but there's a much higher concentration all around my naval piercing scar.
