Moms of Girls, Potty Training Question

If you have a girl who is potty trained, do they wipe themselves? I figure wiping for poop is a given at this age, but for pee, do you have to do it, or does LO?

Just curious if this is something I should be teaching Mel now or not. Right now I'm doing all wiping.


She shows no interest in wiping. She does pull down her pants about 50% of the time and seems to always pull them up if they are not too tight (I was not prepared for leggings not to work so we managed to find 2 pants that she can do herself. More shopping is definitely in order!) or tricky.

L wipes himself for pee. He insists on having a piece of toilet paper, even if he doesn't wipe well. I need to let him practice pulling his underwear up and down and quit just doing it for him

I do it all. Her idea of wiping is just shoving toilet paper between her legs til it hits water. I'll work on it soon enough.

Wiping takes practice, and it's helpful if you teach them to wipe standing up (so they don't accidentally stick their hands in the toilet). Right now, I wouldn't expect her to be able to do it herself, but encouraging her to try is good at this stage.

Thanks! I figure since we just won the using a small seat on a normal toilet so we can leave the house without fear battle I've had enough teaching for now. Now we just practice!

M wipes herself with pee. She insists. She also insists on taking her pee out of her kiddy potty and pouring it in the big potty. UGH. shes been good so far but one of these days, i know she is going to miss and there will be a huge piss pile to clean up.

She tries to wipe and then I actually wipe her.

She tries to wipe for pee but mostly just sticks the toilet paper between her legs. I do a more thorough wipe.

She wipes and does an ok job with pee. She wants to wipe with poop but our "rule" is that mommy wipes first and she can go after me. She doesn't do a very good job on her own.

She would prefer to wipe herself, but I always wipe for her also. She never does a very good job.

We still do all the wiping. I guess I should let her start trying.

She wipes pee, and I do poop for now. We are still working on wiping from front to back.

Samantha wipes herself, she's seen me do it so she's very much a copier. She does pretty well. No poop in potty yet but I would for sure take a wipe to that bum after a poo!

I wipe. Like PP said, she thinks wiping is shoving toilet paper in the toilet.

Laney insists on dumping it too. I started having her go more on the big potty but I can't lift her right now (and she's too small, even with a stool) so she uses her frog potty.

She also insists on wiping. I usually wipe after too but not always

A wipes. I taught her to dab the front because other wise she shoves her whole arm in there and get poop and toilet water and the whole shebang. She actually does well. I'm usually just wiping pee drips off her bum
