My DD, 7 months, head butts her crib (rocks on all fours) when she is in it. Right now she sleeps in the pack n play with mesh sides and she head butts that before falling asleep. We did CIO and now there is usually 5 minutes of crying before a nap/bed. I'd like to move her to her crib, but the wood seems hard. Thoughts? Anyone deal with this?

OMG yes! DS2 is a head banger and we had to move his crib a few inches away from the wall otherwise he would rock the crib into the wall when he was falling asleep at bedtime and a few random times in the MOTN as well. I talked to the pedi about it at his 1 year appointment and said that he won't hurt himself and that some kids are just a little quirky like that with the "self soothing" techniques. Good times.
He was in his crib and still head-banging away until a few months ago when we moved into my parents house, so now he's in a PNP. He's 2 years old now and still rocks/moans a little bit before bedtime, but definitely not as much as he used to. I'm debating about if we are going to put his crib back up when we move next month or if we are going to switch to a toddler bed.
No advice really about how to stop it since there wasn't really anything we could do about it. But he was in his crib for almost 2 years and we just dealt with it and moved it away from the wall. Shortly after he turned 1 we put a pillow in there and kinda propped it up against the main side of the crib he banged on and he just moved it away and banged on the crib. So that was an epic failure, lol.
Popping in from the April board.... my guy was/is a head butter and he is 2. It does lessen though and now he strictly does it for attention. It can be exhausting.
