I had an ultrasound on Monday, to check for fluid on the baby's kidneys. The good news is that that has cleared up and doesn't require any further monitoring. The bad news is that the doctor mentioned that the baby's femur and humerus bones are still measuring short. WHAT? He had never mentioned this before and was defensive when I mentioned that we had never discussed it. In fact, after I said again that I had been unaware of this and was asking questions, he said that maybe he had another patient w/ a similar issue and was remembering talking to her about it. WTF?
Anyway, he said that they have consistently been measuring short since my first anatomy scan (I have had 4 scans since then, 2 for because they were having a hard time getting the spine and heart measurements and then 2 follow ups for the kidneys). He didn't really have any answers to my questions of what this could mean and said it could be nothing or it could be something...
So. I am meeting with a MFM/perinatologist in 2 weeks for a more comprehensive scan and to hopefully get more answers. Ugh. My anxiety had finally settled down a little and now this. Fuck.
Well I'm happy there are no problems with the kidneys. I hope that everything else is fine though and there are no other problems. I will keep my fingers crossed. Please keep us posted.
KaraOrNot - Same thing happened to me, though, just wanted to let you know everything turned out fine. Baby Toutsuite also had extra fluid in his kidneys though that was resolved by the next scan. The u/s tech also had a hard time getting all the pictures of the spine and heart so we had two follow-ups. During the second follow-up the same bones for baby Toutsuite were measuring short, however, at the next follow-up u/s it was determined they were fine and it was likely due to the angle he was in with the initial scan. Easier said than done - try not to stress. I was freaked out but all turned out well....Now if only my damn placenta would move - I would be a happy camper.

me to your doc: ^o)
I'm sorry that you are left hanging and now even more worried. I'm here to hold your hand if you need it! I'm always available to go to your appointments, take names, kick asses...you know...all the usual BBC type of things. Baby KoNwill be in my T&Ps that it is totally nothing. xoxo
Glad to hear baby's kidneys are looking better! But, how frustrating that your OB didn't tell you about the shorter leg measurements. I would be so mad. Hoping everything looks fine when you see the MFM.
