I'm meeting my old college roommate for dinner in about an hour. We usually share a bottle of wine which won't work and I want to tell her I'm pregnant. But, she's struggled for years with infertility and they're starting to look at adoption.
How do I do this as nicely and with as much sensitivity as possible?
I agree with this. It gives her time to have a natural reaction and not have to worry about hurting your feelings. By the time you meet up, I'm sure she'll be all smiles and very happy for you.

If you can't text her a warning beforehand (and allow graciously for her to back out of your plans), when you do being it up, allow for the topic to be changed quickly.
Or maybe don't even bring it up. If she asks you if you want to split, you can always make up a medication excuse or something.
Basically just read the situation as best you can. You obviously know her better than we do lol.

Thank you all for the advice, it actually went really well. We talked about her for awhile then she asked about me and so I just told her, we talked for a few then it naturally went to another subject.
I really appreciate everyone's feedback, thanks again!
