omg, NitaX , have you seen the real video for Rude? The song is sooo catchy, but I'm totally on the side of the dad (who doesn't give his blessing for the marriage) in the video just because the singer seems like such a loser.
According to my "Frequently listened to" playlist on my iPod, this is what I've got:
Lenka Regina Spektor Big Momma Morton Kimbra Big Data Offspring London Grammar Carla Bruni Ike and Tina Turner Lorde (don't hate) Soundtrack from Guardians of the Galaxy Wham! Alt-J

I haven't yet. But, I need that song out of my head. Every time I turn it on Radio Disney it's ON.
I don't know if this will make you feel better or worse, but I liked many of the bands on your list!
Also, I have required lasagnasshole's assistance in the past on which guy is the cool one and which one sang that "Have you ever loved a woman" song (which, is wretched), Bryan Adams or Ryan Adams? I get them mixed up.
Ok, that confession may make you feel worse. lolol I'm sorry
Oh no. I'm zen about my music. I don't actually care what It's called; I just like it.
I also really like that band...what are they called? The Neighborhood? And that song Sweater Weather? It makes me want to be 17 again.

We are seeing Jack White in a few weeks. I'm mainly going because DH really wants to and going to concerts is sort of our "as a couple" thing to do, so kind of taking one for the team for this. I'm afraid though that it may turn into a situation where I get completely wasted because I'm bored.

I need everyone to stop what you're doing and listen to this song:
I am currently obsessed with this song. Mofo looks like a short Ron Jeremy. He tried to sell this song to Britney Spears but her people passed. LAME. It's a good song!
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."

Sam Smith NitaX I get annoyed when stations don't play the MJB version. I mean I like the original, but the MJB one is better, IMO Kongos - I love that song Come With Me Now
Julia and Angus Stone just came on pandora. I love them. But it creeps me they are siblings and not the Whites kinda of siblings. Their songs are too romantic to be related.
I think The Neighborhood's new song is better than Sweater Weather. I think it's called Afraid. I bought the whole album for that one song. The album is pretty good.
I'm also really into Bastille, Alt-J, and Big Data. And whatever else is playing on our local alternative station.

I definitely like sweater weather better than afraid but a lot of their songs on that album are good.

Sweater Weather got overplayed here, and that's likely coloring my opinion on it quite a bit. I hate when a song gets overplayed.
But Afraid is a much darker song, and I tend to like the darker songs more anyway.

I wish I lived somewhere where "alternative" music got overplayed.
It's all top 40 here. All the time.
I've never lived somewhere so musically mediocre.
I keep telling pandora to play neighborhood and sweater weather but pandora ignores me.
I agree afraid is darker.
We just got this station a few years ago. Without it, it was classic rock (which, let's be honest, classic rock stations have a habit of playing the same 3 Pink Floyd songs, throw in some Eagles and maybe some Doors), country, or Christian music.
I'm so, so thankful for the alternative station. So much good music through my radio now.

I miss my radio station, it changed format and sucked.
It was great... about a third 'classic rock' (but not what you hear all the time, album cuts or less-played artists)... about a third 'classic alternative', so The Smiths or The Cure or stuff of that ilk... and about a third new stuff, some local, mostly alternative.
the more alternative stations here are hard to bear, as they're... very committed to their own coolness. Like everybody's in love with KEXP (you can listen to them online here: kexp.org/ ...sometimes it's great, and they're a nonprofit, which you've got to love... but it's VERY DJ dependent, so you could have an hour of music you love followed by three hours that are making your brain bleed. Anyway, if you want a good source for alternative guidance (and you can take the occasional brain bleed) they're pretty great.

My husband STILL listens to KEXP, and he only lived in Seattle from 2001-2004. He really loves the Halloween music special they do every year. The play a lot of Nick Cave and Tom Waits and that kind of thing that's creepy-Halloween-appropriate, not just, like, Monster Mash.
edit: mumblegrumble doesn't work. Google "Always True to You In My Fashion"... there's nothing on Youtube except somebody lipsynching to it in a terrifying manner. The song's fantastic, though, i'ts by Cole Porter.
