My friends parents are going through a really bad time medically and financially. They have to rehome their 2 year old pit bull. They've agonized over the decision but they just can't keep her.
How would you go about finding someone to take her that would treat her well? Friend is scared that the wrong people would take her, try to fight her etc.

Where did they get her? My first stop would be the shelter or rescue they got her from. Otherwise, I'd start contacting local rescues to see if they had room.

(I've said this before, sorry if you've seen) My friend found adopted a pup her daughter(who was leaving for school in 6 months) fell in love with, I judged. Addition didn't go well with their current 2 (huge) dogs. She posted on FB. (Judged again.) It freakin' worked! She posted a pic of the pup, it's background, including mannerisms, etc. Sent to all her friends & asked them to pass to anyone who might be interested. She found an owner who now (8 months later) still occasionally sends cute pics. I'm very glad I bit my tongue, & hate that b/c of success, I sometimes throw out as an option?

Are there any non-profits/volunteer organizations who specialize in finding homes for pit bulls?
Just sharing with their friends, your friends, etc on facebook might not be a bad idea. That way if someone shows interest, they have some concept of the kind of person they are. If you post on a local buy sell trade, you never know who you'll get, so I don't recommend that.
