When we were young & broke I packed cereal singles individual soy milks ( the little juice box kind that don't need refrigeration ) granola bars, bowls & spoons ( 1 of each plastic) so we could have breakfast in our room on vacations.
I also pack sunbutter when we go places because DS has a peanut allergy & it's hard to find.
I have never packed butter, I love CloudBee though.

Yes, you packed some items that don't need refrigeration like a normal person... Not butter! No way would I eat any butter from a suitcase, even if it was salted butter! My husband who would eat an unwashed carrot from the ground threw away an unsalted butter stick that was on the counter for an hour. Dairy is not an area to cheap out on.
Dude, pancakes for breakfast in the Bahamas?? Oy. Just no. Go, eat the local food. Unclench. Enjoy life. When we went to Jamaica, I had the idea of cooking there for some meals. Uh, no. Their stuff there is SO different - the kitchen set up, the food at the stores. It's not like you just hit up your local store & it's the same as at home. They carry local stuff. It is cheaper to eat out locally than it will be to find the things for pancakes, waffles, bagels. etc. there. Also, LOFL that they will have a waffle iron. NO.
The kid wakes at 6:30am and we are in a CONDO. I'm making pancakes, damnit. Because it's vacation and I don't want to get my ass dressed and out the door at 7 to feed my family. This is actually taking the lazy route!

Can you order room service at 6:30 am? It might be cheaper than $$$ butter & more convient than suitcase butter.
PS when I saw suitcase butter in Miso's credit score post I assumed it was some sort of conditioning balm for your LV. LOL!

I'm not packing butter in my suitcase, but really? Have you never used a butter dish? I have been eating unrefrigerated butter for 31 years and am none the worse for wear. Cold butter doesn't spread on bread!
Yeah I'm curious about this whole refrigerated butter thing. I have never kept my salted butter in the fridge. It has never gone bad when kept at room temperature. It has also never melted into a puddle.
I have also looked into sailing trips in the Exumas from Nassau and almost everyone packs entire coolers of meat and dairy when they are going down to sail for a week since the cost is so high to outfit the boat. Obviously on a desert island there is no room service.
We are getting groceries delivered, and a gallon of whole milk is almost $12. Butter is like $8.
So it's not necessarily a cheap-ass question, either.
It was perfectly reasonable.
Ahhh- Can your DS have muffins ( I know he has lots of allergies)? When we travel, I often order a 12 pack of muffins with my grocery order for 6:30 am breakfasts ( I am totally familiar on our last Disney Trip on our " rest" day DS was up at 5:15 am. On our Rope Drop days we had to drag him out of bed.)

Yeah the butter stays delicious on the counter for a week at least.
Why not pack non-perishables like cereal and those bisquick pancake batter in a jug things to save money and actually just spend the grocery money on the perishables like milk and butter.

No this is not taking the lazy route, silly. Making H get up with the kids while you sleep in is the lazy (and best) route. Problem solved. Let him mess with the vacation butter.

Some of us like making pancakes at 6:30am on vacation. I would buy it from the grocery store though, not bring it in my suitcase, lol.
And really if you are going for a week, you will use most of it, no?

I am NEVER making pancakes at 6:30am. Maybe at 7:30am, but at 6:30 am, it's like " Here have a muffin and chill" LOL!
When I went on a cruise w/ BIL's family, his uncle brought a thing of provolone from Jersey. lol. All through the cruise, he'd be like "want some provolone? I have some in my room." lol
This reminds me of a MIL story. My ILs are super cheap and hate waste, they'd fit right in on MM. When SIL brought BIL home the first time she told her parents he eats real butter in his toast, so they bought some. But at the end of the weekend, they got really stressed about the rest of the butter so they kept offering it to him. To bring on his 3 hour drive home. "No thanks!" "Are you sure? You like butter! Take it!". Lol
I really don't get why this is such a mock-worthy concept.
Butter will be good for about a week at room temperature. Some people enjoy cooking and do cook on vacation if they have a kitchen. I went on a trip recently where I knew I'd be cooking and brought salt and pepper so I didn't have to go out and buy whole packages of salt and pepper only to use a pinch of each. The only thing I'd worry about with the butter would be it getting squished and messy in my suitcase; Ziploc solves everything.
Must be pretty slow around here to mock traveling with cooking ingredients.

I really enjoy this post paired with your siggie. I am picturing you making " smackwiches" in a tropical location.

I'm not mocking cloudbee because she's a great person, but I think there is a disconnect that made people go :/
She is getting grocery delivery, there really is no reason that she can't include butter in to that grocery order.
I'm cheap/broke and do plenty of things to save money on travel, but come on, if you want to cook and have enough money to get groceries delivered is it really necessary to pack butter in your suitcase?

If we do Bisquick I still have to butter those pancakes!
I agree. I like the OP & it's one thing to bring hard-to-find food because of allergies but butter from Connecticut =/= cheese from France. Even MM has its limits!
