We endure SO much screaming when DD is in her infant carseat. She just seems to hate being in it. I've been trouble-shooting it for ages now and it really seems to boil down to the fact that she doesn't seem happy in the cradle position. She is a very active kid and appears to like sitting up more. I mean, it could be something else, but I can't figure it out.
I hate to go buy a convertible carseat, when we've got plenty of use left in the Britax B-Safe infant seat. But I'm starting to wonder if she might prefer the seating position of a convertible. We need to buy one eventually anyway, right?!
Has anyone else experienced a happier baby in a convertible rather than an infant seat? Tell me this is going to make it all better!!!
ETA: for those on the app, she is 3 months, 3 weeks

I switched my guy at about four months. Car rides were miserable! He would scream and scream. I resorted to making a daily trip to Target to get him used to the car. It didn't work, so at four months we decided to buy a new seat.
He's one now but does so much better in the car than he did. I wish I had gone straight to convertible from the get go, because he never even slept in the infant seat. We ended up getting a Maxi Cosi Pria for my husbands car and a Nextfit for mine. He likes both, but the Nextfit has more seat positions so I think that is better for a picky car kid.
We switched M at 6 months. She was nearing the height restriction anyway but she was miserable in the car and we couldn't stand the screaming any longer. It helped immensely although I will be honest, it's still sometimes miserable.
We switched at 4 months too, and it made a little difference, but there was still screaming. I still ride in the back sometimes on longer trips when she is awake.
Yes, we switched right around six months and it made a huge difference. More room, less reclined, higher point of view for looking out the window... definitely helped.

I switched my second at 2 months old. She had miserable in the car from day 1, hated the infant seat with a passion so we had not once taken it out of the car with her in it anyway. She was much happier. She still didn't love being restrained of course, but she calmed down and sometimes slept instead of screaming nonstop no matter how long we were in the car, so we called it a win.
i switched R at 4 months more or less by accident, but it made a world of difference. he had been fussing a lot more in the car which i just attributed to being more alert at 3 months+, but we went on holidays for a month and used two different convertibles while traveling. he was totally fine in them, and when we came home and put him back in the infant seat he melted. we knew he'd outgrow the b-safe sooner than later since he's tall so we went ahead about bought a convertible. he's happy as a clam in his big seat.
fwiw, i don't have space to store our infant seat and am not convinced i'll use it with the next kid since the convertible we bought (britax boulevard) starts at 5lbs, so i sold it to a friend for $100. she was happy to get it half price and completely trusts that i took good care of it.
IndiaInk I had a screaming car seat baby too. Someone here mentioned cracking your back window. That has seriously worked wonders for us. I have a Bsafe and was ready to buy a convertible seat too. I also bought this weird musical mirror and it will keep him distracted.

Yes. We bought one for my mom since she was keeping him, but I used it first and he preferred it to the bucket seat. I still use the infant seat b/c it's easier and he falls asleep on the way home. I considered using the convertible for our long car trip, but the convience of being able to carry a sleeping infant outweighed it.
He eventually stopped screaming in the car. I don't think he can see as much as he can in the convertible but he either grew or just made peace with it. For now
