“Life is not orderly. No matter how we try to make it so, right in the middle of it lose a leg, fall in love, drop a jar of applesauce.” - Natalie Goldberg
We're going camping tomorrow for the labor day weekend and I am pretty sure the cashier at the grocery store thinks I am an unfit parent with all my toddler junk food and cases upon cases of beer.
I have been on Pinterest all afternoon looking for Frozen birthday party ideas. Goddamn, how do you people do this? I hate it. And it's so un-user-friendly.
lol. My poor kid.
Did you see the Frozen stuff on Zulily this morning? OMG. I spent $300 between clothes, accessories, toys and party supplies for my BFF who's having a Frozen party for her girls next month. It's insanity over there. NO REGRETS.

It used to be better. Recently they've changed it and I hate it.
I made the mistake of asking my nearly 3 yr old what she wanted her birthday party "theme" to be. She said pink princess much to my distress - I had already starting planning for her awesome polka dot party. Womp womp. I thought I had a few more years to plan events without her input.

There is a before school social event at my kid's school tonight. I am happy that my hair appointment was already set today. It is a neighborhood school in a neighborhood we don't live in, I want to walk in feeling cute instead of awkward outsider.
I flooded my garage in my new house on Monday, in the midst of my panic and clean-up a random from OKC I gave my cell to texted me "sexy" selfies. I had no choice but to laugh at the ridiculousness of my life.

Today I ordered a salad at lunch that included prosciutto, arugula and mozzarella. Obviously a winning combo. When I got the salad, though, they had formed it like a wrap: prosciutto outer layer with a drizzle of balsamic glaze, stuffed with arugula and mozzarella in the middle. OMG IT WAS AMAZING. I also had pizza and a cannoli for dessert. You could have rolled me out of there.

I had a good day at work today!
I had several students independent of one another come and talk to me either privately or bring up in class discussion that the book we are reading/discussing has made them re-think (in a positive way) how they treat other people, and one girl even told me that it has changed her profoundly. I got chills. That is so COOL! I love when kids get into what we read and it has a lasting impression on them.
I also had one student (who I've taught before) raise her hand and speak in a class discussion for the first time EVER! She is so shy, will barely even talk to me 1-on-1 and in the two years I've had her, she has never once volunteered to say anything.

I'm sick again with another cold, this time with bonus chest congestion! I really wish there was such a thing as popsicle delivery. I never have popsicles when I really, really need them.
I had today off - I took Em to daycare because we pay for the day whether she is there or not. So, after I dropped her off I had a massage and a pedicure. Treated myself to lunch! It was wonderful!
I had a lovely day today with my mom, and now H is cooking dinner (who knew it took bed rest for this man to FINALLY learn his way around a kitchen) and we're watching football. Today has been a pretty damn good day.
And my baby is a little wiggle worm after drinking orange juice. I love this little guy so much!
I cannot win with my fucking JawboneUp. I have a 10 minute walk to and from my office. I walk for 30 minutes at lunch and 15-20 minutes with my toddler when I get home from work (that's pretty much all he's good for in 90 degree+ heat, plus the usual walking around my office and to the bathroom, which is on the other side of the building. Still only 80 percent of my 10,000 step goal. Sad trombone.
That article about adjuncts put me in a bad mood all day! I'm tired of being poor
((hugs)) I'm sorry, that writer was a real dickhead. I don't know what the higher ed field is like, the politics involved or the salary difference between adjunct and tenured professors but it's obvious in your posts that you love to teach and it seems to make you happy. Being poor sucks, I definitely have experience with that but you seem to have a job you love so that's a plus?
If that doesn't help then here:
I'm actually looking at this guy's leather pants right this second (season 3)

Are you sure it's calibrated correctly? Could it be missing some steps?

Same here, only not an unfit parent but a raging alcoholic. I had Captain Morgan, Seagrams 7 whiskey, Rumchata, beer and Lime-a-ritas. I'm sure she was thinking I would be dead by Monday.
