Even if you do not care for her humor, she paved the way for the female comedians of today. I like some of her stuff, but I also have enjoyed interviews of her when she is not "on".

Exactly.
I hated her many years ago.
Then somewhat recently I watched a show about her, and I never knew how much she really did pave the way for other female comedians as you said.
I thought she got better from the few Fashion Police episodes I've watched in the past, but apparently, she's been pretty offensive lately?

She was always one of my favorite guest hosts for Johnny Carson.*
*Late night talk show host when there were only four channels of television (including PBS) and wire antennas on rooftops were adjusted for reception. Oh, and someone actually had to get up to change the channels. ::drops dentures in glass, grabs cane, and hobbles to bed::
If she did actually go into cardiac arrest, I think the chances of come out of it intact are really slim. I remember reading all the details of what happens, last year, with the Jahi McMath case. Your brain has like a seizure and then shuts down.

not necessarily. Cardiac arrest affects brain activity when the body becomes hypoxic (without oxygen) for a certain amount of time. If the only coded her for one round, she might not have any neurological deficits. But that's hard to assess, with her being intubated/sedated right now. Her age is more of a factor in her recovery from coding her. I've coded 80+ year old women and you can feel their ribs cracking as you do CPR compressions. Its awful.

Until he blacklisted her!
I know! I never quite forgave him for that. But still have eternal love for Johnny.

Yay, another Old who remembers her from when she looked like this:
and actually told jokes and was funny (even if it was at the expense of poor Edgar).
I get a lot of people don't care for her and that is fine, but she seriously broke down the glass ceiling for female comedians. There is a great doc on Netflix about her (super interesting whether or not you are a fan).
She isn't just a red carpet celebrity fashion commentator. She guest hosted the Tonight Show for Johnny Carson on a regular basis. She said things on stage that were "shocking" for a woman. She joked about topics that were extremely taboo during that time (like abortion).
She is really inspiring, despite what her public image has become.
She's amazing. H and I saw her live a few months ago. She is teeny, tiny in person and a huge spitfire. She is offensive, but there was just something so magical about watching her perform. I will legit shed a tear if she doesn't recover.
She has said some pretty offensive stuff in my opinion.
Just a few weeks ago didn't she say Michelle Obama is obviously a tranny and everyone knows it based on her build?
Context was she was asked if she thought there'd ever be a woman in the White House and she said well there's already a tranny and the interviewer was like what? And she said M.O., come on everyone knows she's a tranny.
I don't wish her ill, and I hope for her and her family's sake she pulls through.

Medically induced coma sounds so dramatic, she is probably intubated/sedated.
Yeah, it's not as big a deal as the press makes it seem. Probably 75% of ICU residents are in "medically induced comas" for the first couple of days until everything gets sorted out and settled down.
I don't wish any harm on anyone, but I'm with McGavin. She called Adele fat. Never mind the fact that her voice could possible make world peace happen but let's focus on the fact that's she's more curvy than other singers, cause that's what's important apparently.

But it's Joan Rivers! This is what she's done for like the past 200 years.

Exactly. She was offensive before women were allowed to be offensive. And thank god for that!
I find her hysterical. What she says so outlandish and stupid that its funny. Just the other day she made a joke how she has to wear dead animals because live ones bite. Come on that's funny.
But I'm sure she's intubated, sedated and on a cooling blanket that keeps your temperature at 90 degrees for so many hours to preserve brain function in a witnessed arrest. The whole process is 3 days. I think this because they said they'll "wake her up" this weekend.
