I just freecycled something and the guy who picked it up said I really should paint the inside of my garage.... not the floors but the WALLS.
I was kinda like what are you talking about why would I waste time painting a garage that noone is going to see or use as another other than a garage. My grandfather painted his garage but my dad never did (nor does anyone else I know).
Does anyone (or did anyone) paint the inside of the garage? The sole use is to put our cars in there, garden/lawn crap, storage etc.
Our is painted white too - walls and ceiling. I agree it just looks brighter and more finished.
Other than a non-drywalled garage (where you can see the sheathing and studs), I don't think I have ever seen a non-painted garage. Hmm, maybe painted garage walls/ceilings are a regional thing?
We painted our garage at our last house (we don't have one here). I liked that it seemed cleaner and brighter. The original builder paint was cheap and got dirty easily, and part of it wasn't finished originally, so we insulated, did drywall and painted with oops paint that was a fun color. We rented before living inth at house, and I always wanted to paint the garage because it was so dark and creepy.
It was used mostly for storage and laundry and sometimes as a workshop. We also walked through it a zillion times a day since the door to the side yard (trash and dog run) was through the garage, so it was nice to have it not feel so much like we were in a garage.

Yep, our garage walls and ceiling are painted. White, using some extra paint we had lying around. It didn't take all that long. An hour, two at the most, to throw it up there since you don't have to worry about edging the ceiling or trim like you would on an interior room wall, was time well spent to make it look a bit more finished IMO.

Our garage is really dingy (we just bought it from people whol Ives here almost 20 years). There are holes in the drywall and a weird pattern of brown paint around the door (no clue why). We plan to repair the holes and give the walls and ceiling a fresh coat of white paint. Just because it's not the interior of the house doesn't mean I don't care what it looks like.

Mine wasn't painted when I bought it; we did it as DS's Family Life Merit Badge. I bought a 5 gallon bucket of a pale green mismatch. Looks much nicer and would be easier to clean if something got on them.
My mom's friend bought a decorated model home- the 3 car garage had been the sales office and had a chair rail and wall paper. She kept it. It was fancy.

Our last house's garage was painted a light gray color. Our current house garage just has drywall that's been mud and taped. We are in the process of finishing the walls, then putting that epoxy on the floor. I think a finished garage looks much nicer, and it makes it nicer for my hubby, who likes to tinker with stuff in there. But I wouldn't raise my eyebrows at a non-finished garage,

I have it drywalled mudded and taped. I plan to paint it. The garage is attached and used for studio space. Ac/heat, and TV is all in. Just need to get it painted.
That would be the lowest thing on my list of priorities. Unless you use it for parties or someone is a gearhead, I feel like it's a waste of time. Finishing the floor is different because that's functional. On a similar note, I never bother painting or decorating laundry rooms. I just always keep the door closed.

Mine is not painted, you can see all the drywall tape. I really want to paint it- I keep looking at the Ooops paint at Walmart & Lowes to find a good color.
walls? I didn't realize so many people had finished walls in the garage. That's not really typical where I am.
It's about 50/50 here. Our is just studded and we're working on it. People like to throw parties or open the garage door for the beer fridge around the fire pit etc. around here. Mine is just such a mess from life on the farm I have to do something to make it easy to clean otherwise I wouldn't care either.
My subdivision is half drywalled and half studs. My house was done by one of the better local builders- I have dry wall. ne of my neighnbors keeps his fishing boat in his garage. His walls are painted taupe and have matted and framed fish prints on the walls. It's really attractive when the door is open.

In CA ours was half finished and we did the rest, but we knew people with unfinished and unpainted, unfinished and painted, finished and unpainted and finished and painted.
Almost everyone we knew in CA used their garages for storage and laundry, but quite a few people used them as a place to hang out. I was surprised at the number of people who had parties in their garages, even when they had a nice patio in the backyard.
