The major difference between the brands is the Velcro sides; our daycare requires all Pull-Ups to be the Velcro ones, so that means no Pampers or Seventh Generation.
DD is allergic to Huggies so I actually love the Target brand (and they have Velcro.) I've had leaking with other store brands, but not Target.
I like Pampers best. All the ones with velcro chaffed big time. If the kid poops in the "easy ups" (Pull Ups is actually a Huggies name) you just rip the sides to get it off like a swim diaper instead of pulling it down and getting poop everywhere. If it's dry or just a little wet, they're easier to get up and down without dealing with the stupid velcro.
Also, I had to order at least 1 size up. DS was supposed to fit in 2T/3T by weight but they were way too small (in Huggies, Pampers, or Up&Up) the 4T/5T were actually comfortable for him.
Daycare didn't request pull-ups for a few months, when DS started keeping the diapers dry and they weren't having to change him every time. It made their lives easier to be able to pull up a pull-up (lol) instead of getting him onto a changing table to re-fasten. I wouldn't offer up pull-ups. Wait until they request them and enjoy the ability to buy cheap diapers.
Pull-Ups are pretty useless for potty training purposes. However, if your kid is in daycare, they'll likely insist on them for the 2's class. If you're a SAHM, have a nanny, or do in-home, you may be able to skip them.
That said, most kids day train way before they night train. DD is completely day and nap trained, but still wakes up wet 2x per week, so she sleeps in Pull-Ups. That's fairly typical for kids her age, from what I understand.
I am worried about this because daycare will start PTing when she moves rooms in the next two weeks and I figured pull ups were part of that??? Honestly, I have no idea.
C moved up rooms 2 weeks ago. He sits on the potty when they do diaper changes but they haven't said anything about Pull-Ups. I don't think they switch until the kid is consistently going.

I was pissed when they didn't let us use the Pampers Easy Ups because of her Huggies allergy. The Velcro is easier for the daycare workers so they can change 12 kids without taking off 12 pairs of pants and shoes multiple times per day. The Velcro make them more like diapers. It's not about getting them off; it's about putting them back on.

We HATE the Target pull ups. The inards get so bunchy after DD1 wore them for like an hour at night and that's without pee. We only used them for night PTing and that was just for 2 weeks (which is crazy fast according to everyone I know).
Then again maybe the uncomfortable pull ups actually helped her night train so fast...

I like the Up&Up brand because they're cheaper and, yeah, the velcro sides.
I moved the girls to pull-ups when they first started getting interested in the potty. They both wanted to sit on the potty but they weren't consistent about it and sometimes they wouldn't do anything BUT sit on it. Diapers got annoying at that point so we switched. When they were full on PTing, we ditched them for underwear.
DD2 isn't even close to night trained yet though so she still sleeps in pull-ups overnight.

We only used pull ups (Huggies brand from Costco) for nap and night time when first potty training. After a few months he started being dry at nap, so now we are just using them at night. We call them his "paper undies".
FWIW, my daughter never understood that she wasn't supposed to go in the pull ups and they aren't very absorbent since they are meant to teach the kid to feel a bit wet and go. She just thought they were diapers.
So I switched her to the huggies slipons. They are regular diapers but can be pulled up and down. That way when she felt like sitting on the potty at daycare she could but we were not cleaning leaks and poopsplosions.
Once she truly was ready we did the 3 day method and sent her to school on Monday in underwear. By Wednesday she was accident free.
The slipons are great for overnight training as well. She could go at night by herself if she woke up but if she didnt there were no leaks. Pull ups would never have held her pee for that.
Isn't a velcro pull up that you don't pull up... a diaper?
We use pullups because DS puts them on and off himself and got very offended by diapers once PT'ed. We didn't use them before PTing, and then just for naps and night. No brand preference (have used Huggies, Pampers, and a few store brands).

I refused to buy pull ups when DS moved rooms. I got a LOT of pressure on it and when I explained that I was not going to be literally pissing away money, she finally backed off. I told her that the pull ups were about $.25/piece (I hadn't done serious sale shopping/research yet) and I was buying diapers at $.12/piece and he was going through 4-5 a day, I'd be happy to bring them if they paid the difference. At this point, it's been a year and we're working on PTing this weekend.
In my 1 day of PTing so far, Pampers have been fine. Honestly he's done better in underwear because it's a novelty still.
We bought pull ups towards the end. I still have half a box. I think we may have used only at night for about a 6 months. I usually got the cheapest. She was done with night time pt by 4 ish.
